Seats

Most 3 wheel double buggies are initially single pushchairs. However, some can be converted to take a second seat or carrycot using adapters (these are more commonly found in tandem buggies). Some models allow you to add an extra board to older children who are ready to walk but require a little help.

It can be used for twins beginning at birth and can accommodate two car seats, or a carrycot with seat. The seats are required to face forwards and there's not enough space to store a bag of groceries underneath, so you'll need a sidepack to do that.


Mountain Buggy Duet will be an ideal choice if you enjoy off-road driving. It's a side by tandem with the slimmest footprint of any double buggy that is available. The iCandy Orange double buggies are one of the most sought-after on the market. This is due to their exceptional comfort. It's an all-terrain pushchair with a soft suspension, which can easily handle bumpy surfaces. It can accommodate a massive 30 seating configurations, and includes a built-in ride-on for older kids who prefer walking as well as a 'cinema' seating mode that raises the back seat to allow for better visibility.

Alternatively, the phil&teds dot is a fantastic single buggy from day 1 that can then easily adapt to take 2 (or 3!) Different configurations are possible. Suspension

The suspension of a double 3 wheel buggy will determine how easy you and your child/children can push it. It is important to have a smooth ride since babies feel every bump on the road. This is particularly relevant if you drive on rough terrain such as grass or roads that aren't paved. Some models come with locking front tires that aid in maneuvering and navigating obstacles like curbs.

Certain models have air-filled tyres which will provide a fantastic all-terrain ride, but can be susceptible to punctures, so make sure you have spares in the trunk. Certain models come with foam or gel-filled tyres that are designed to cushion bumps. They can be less likely to puncture, but they might be uncomfortable for your child if you choose to jog.

Folding

A three-wheel double buggy can be folded up neatly for storage. You can find options that fold flat and stand up (as when they were in a pushchair) and also ones that pop out to reveal an umbrella-like fold that has a hand-operated brake. In general the more wheels a buggy comes with the more able it will be to maneuver on rough terrain. This is especially true if your wheels are bigger than the typical size. You will have more stability and it's less likely that you need to tip over or flip your child.

It transforms into a side-by-side double buggy when your child is old enough to allow them to sit next to each one. It's a lightweight option that is simple to push. It also comes with a bumper bar and rain cover.
