Saw dr in a&e called Tom. Abrupt, aloof, no time to listen to you, just answer exact question, felt as though I was being talked down to! Then a nurse came in cubicle and he said, 'it's like the Jeremy Kyle show in here today' made me feel awful! Wouldn't listen to how I had been detoxed in past, several times, I was just trying to be helpful, but no, he knew best, which he didn't. Said I has ascites and they were going to tap it, I wasn't happy about this as had had an ultra sound scan of abdomen a week ago which showed no fluid, I said I wanted an ultra sound scan first to determine if any fluid.I had the following day and there wasn't!
I was kept in A&E from 2pm till 11.30pm when I was then taken to CDU and stayed on the same uncomfortable stretcher overnight and until 4.30pm the following day. I did ask if I could have a bed but was told there weren't any. When one became free on the unit I asked numerous times if I could have one, but each time told, (from 9am) it's not worth it, you will be going to MAU soon, I went to MAU at 4.30pm!
Asked what I wanted for lunch, ordered turkey dinner, then informed USS at 1.30pm. Said to staff nurse Sam, don't think I can eat before scan, 'oh you can, it's only an USS, I knew it was clear fluids only and said please could she check, she did, I was right, no food just water!
