10 Healthy Top Robot Vacuum Habits
Top Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

While robots can't substitute for a conventional vacuum in removing dirt-in particles like metal screws and pieces of orzo pasta, they're great in sweeping dust, crumbs and hair from pets. The most effective models come with intelligent navigation technology that helps them avoid cords, toys, and other obstacles in the household.

1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The iRobot Roomba i3+ is a fantastic robot vacuum with many smart features that make it easier to maintain. The automatic bin emptying feature is one of the most useful features we've seen in a robotic vacuum. It is a great choice for both carpets and hard floors. The app walks you through the entire process. It's also simple to use and set up. Another impressive feature is its ability to return to where it was when we tested it. It did this for 77 minutes on one cleaning before running out of battery.

The i3+ EVO is different from the other robot vacuums we tested has a self-emptying bin that automatically dumps debris in an external dirt compartment located on the base of its charging once it's full. This helps reduce the need for hands-on maintenance and keeps the i3+ EVO from overfilling, but it still needs to be manually cleaned after each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO's inner dust bin can hold 2.4L of trash, which is enough to get it through five or four cleaning sessions before you have to replace it.

Like the i7, uses cutting-edge floor-tracking sensors that create maps. It also lets you navigate in neat rows. The i3+ EVO can only store one map, while the i7 can store multiple. The map of the i7 can be used to create virtual barriers and no-go zones, however, not the i3+ EVO.

While the i3+ EVO is better at picking up surface debris than some of the other robovacs that we tested, it's not the best for cleaning corners and edges. It's also more abrasive on furniture despite being relatively silent. robotvacuummops moved chairs away from walls, and made some collisions with the sides of our test bed, and was stuck to cords and toys during our testing.

2. Black & Decker Pro Q5

If you're looking to increase your robot vacuum collection or just beginning your journey, the Q5 Pro is a great choice. It has an elegant design with powerful navigation and effective automation at a reasonable price. It's the most affordable model for the money you can get at the moment, and it even matches the Roborock models that are more expensive in a variety of ways.

This robot does an excellent job cleaning bare floors and its avoidance technology helps it stay clear of furniture legs and other obstacles. It also does well on carpets, and earns the highest score on our navigation tests. The only drawback is that it's louder than other models and doesn't perform as well in our owner-satisfaction and predicted reliability tests.

The Q5 Pro comes with a large dust bin that is 770ml. This means you won't need to empty it as often as other 2-in-1 robots. The 240-minute runtime is very generous compared to others we've examined. If the battery is empty, it returns to its dock and recharges, before starting cleaning where it stopped. You can control the Q5 Pro using the app or voice commands with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

This is the first robot we've seen that incorporates 3D mapping. This, in conjunction with other innovations, helps it perform exceptionally well in our vacuuming and mopping tests. It allows you to schedule cleaning times, set no-go zones and see the status of the battery, among other things. The app is simple to use, though it does not support Apple HomeKit and that feature is slated to be added by 2025. As of early November, Apple has updated a footnote on its website to reflect that the feature will be delayed until 2025. HomeKit is not compatible with several other robots, however Siri Shortcuts are.
