The aim of this study was investigate the cranium dimensions of adult female rats, who suffered estrogen deficiency during the prepubertal stage, to assess the impact of estrogen deficiency on craniofacial morphology.

Twenty-two female Wistar rats were divided into ovariectomy (OVX) (n = 11) and sham-operated control (n = 11) groups. To understand the role of estrogen on the postnatal cranium development will impact the clinical diagnose and therapy during childhood and adolescence.A hypothetical study by using molecular modeling for antioxidant capacity of kojic acid derivatives was performed using quantum chemistry calculations by DFT/B3LYP/6-311++G(3d,2p). Four modification approaches were considered namely simplification, functional modifications, ring regioisomerism, and hydroxylation. Molecular orbitals, single-electron transfers, hydrogen atom transfers, and spin density distributions were used for antioxidant prediction. In accordance with HOMO, LUMO, Gap, ionization potential, bond dissociation energy, and stabilization energy, the molecular simplifications of kojic acid show that enol moiety is more important for antioxidant capacity than alcohol group. Few molecular modifications on alcohol or enol position were more potent than kojic acid. The π conjugation system among ether, alkene, and hydroxyl moieties can be involved on resonance effects of better compounds. A different performance was observed on alcohol molecular modifications when compared to enol position. All lactone derivatives were more potent than kojic acid on both mechanisms, and their hydroxylated derivatives were more potent than ascorbic acid. In conclusion, the ring regioisomers and its hydroxylated derivatives have better antioxidant capacity than kojic acid. The regioisomerism and hybrid derivatives show that the lactone derivatives increase antioxidant capacity more than the pyrone derivatives.While collaboration is an important and key attribute for medical students in order to prepare them to perform well in health care teams, how to effectively develop and assess such skills is challenging. The current widespread practice of using Likert-scale questionnaire only to measure the quantity of collaboration at course and/or program level appears to be insufficient to provide an evidence-base for what counts desirable collaborative learning experience. Drawing on research into student approaches to learning and social network analysis, this study investigates differences in collaborative learning configurations amongst 217 Australian medical students. Based on students' learning orientations (i.e., 'understanding' and 'reproducing') and their choice of collaborations (i.e., whether to collaborate or not, with whom to collaborate, and mode of collaboration), the analyses found five configurations of collaborations differing in a number of features. The most desirable collaborative experience was a configuration of collaborations formed by students with an 'understanding' orientation. This configuration revealed a strong tendency towards intensive pair work with measurable differences in how easy and effectively they collaborated. The results of the study not only have practical implications for teaching and curriculum design for collaborative learning, but also have significant implications for assessing students' collaborative learning experiences.
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of a novel augmentation implant in the treatment of patients with symptomatic vertebral body fractures.

Thirty consecutive patients (seven males and 23 females), mean age of 70years (range 56 to 89) with osteoporotic fractures and/or low-energy trauma fractures (osteoporosis confirmed by CT), were enrolled in an IRB-approved prospective study. The type of fracture was classified according to the Magerl classification. The patients were treated with the Tektona
dedicated vertebral body augmentation system. Visual analogue scale (VAS) and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) scores were obtained after 1, 6 and 12months. Quality of life was assessed with the SF36 score.

A total of 37 vertebral bodies, mostly from T6 to L5, were treated in the 30 enrolled patients. In 67.6% of the cases (n = 25), lumbar fractures were treated. Most of the fractures (43%; n = 16) were A1.1 according to the Magerl classification. A significant pain reduction evaluated by VAS scores (p < 0.0001) was observed on average 7.
