Child allowance payment is one form of social security policy that aims to mitigate the child poverty gap by providing financial support to families. This study aimed to explore the impact of the child allowance on children's physical and mental health (BMI, problem behavior, depression, and self-rated health), and parental investment in child health (children's material goods, family events, extracurricular activities, interaction with children, and involvement in child maltreatment).

We used cross-sectional data from the 2016 Kochi Child Health Impact of Living Difficulty (K-CHILD) study. ADH-1 chemical structure Participants were 1st, 5th and 8th grade children living in Kochi prefecture in Japan (N = 8207). Caregivers reported children's child allowance status, BMI and behavior problems, while children filled out a self-assessment on depression and healthcondition. Propensity score matching analysis regarding potential confounders was used.

We found that children in families that received child allowance showed a smaller total difficulties score by 1.29 points (95% CI - 2.32 to - 0.25) and a lower risk of overweight (OR 0.51, 95% CI 0.29 to 0.91) although there is no association with underweight, prosocial behavior, depressive symptoms and self-rated health. Parental investment did not differ by child allowance status (p > 0.05).

Child allowance was found to be potentiallybeneficial in decreasing behavior problems and reducing child overweight. Further longitudinal studies are needed to elucidate how child allowance is used by family members and associated with children's well-being. (230/350 words).

Globally, millions of children attend Outside School Hours Care. Children's activity in this setting is critical to meeting daily physical activity recommendations. Guidelines are evidence-based statements intended to optimise practice. This study aimed to identify guidelines used in Outside School Hours Care for physical activity and screen time and summarise their content and methods of development.

Outside School Hours Care guidelines for children aged 5 to 12 years were identified by systematically searching Medline, Emcare, Embase, Scopus, ERIC, Sportsdiscus, TROVE, ProQuest, UpToDate, NICE, SIGN and Google in accordance with PRISMA-ScR guidelines. The search was conducted in March 2019 and results screened independently by two authors. Data were synthesized narratively.

Nine guideline documents were identified from grey literature only (n = 8 USA, n = 1 Canada). The included guidelines focused predominantly on the after school care period (n = 9 vs n = 2 for the before school period). All had recoines designed with rigorous tools and for other world regions are warranted.
The metzincin family of metalloproteinases and the tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) are essential proteins required for biological processes during cancer progression. This study aimed to determine the role of TIMP-2 in ovarian cancer progression and chemoresistance by reducing TIMP-2 expression in vitro in Fallopian tube secretory epithelial (FT282) and ovarian cancer (JHOS2 and OVCAR4) cell lines.

FT282, JHOS2 and OVCAR4 cells were transiently transfected with either single or pooled TIMP-2 siRNAs. The expression of different genes after TIMP-2 knock down (T2-KD) or in response to chemotherapy was determined at the mRNA level by quantitative real time PCR (qRT-PCR) and at the protein level by immunofluorescence. Sensitivity of the cell lines in response to chemotherapy after TIMP-2 knock down was investigated by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) and 5-Ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU) assays. ADH-1 chemical structure Cell invasion in response to TIMP-2 knockdown was determined by xCELTAT3 activation, Momelotinib, suppressed chemotherapy-induced activation of P-STAT3 in OVCAR4 cells with concomitant reductions in the expression of chemoresistance genes and CSC markers.

The above results suggest that TIMP-2 may have a novel role in ovarian cancer proliferation, invasion and chemoresistance.

Newborns delivered in healthcare facilities in low- and middle-income countries are at an increased risk of healthcare associated infections. Facility-based studies have focused primarily on healthcare worker behaviour during labour & delivery with limited attention to hygiene practices in post-natal care areas and largely ignore the wide variety of actors involved in maternal and neonatal care.

This exploratory mixed-methods study took place in six healthcare facilities in Nigeria where 31 structured observations were completed during post-natal care, discharge, and the first 6 hours after return to the home. Frequency of hand hygiene opportunities and hand hygiene actions were assessed for types of patient care (maternal and newborn care) and the role individuals played in caregiving (healthcare workers, cleaners, non-maternal caregivers). Qualitative interviews with mothers were completed approximately 1 week after facility discharge.

Maternal and newborn care were performed by a range of actors and healthcare workers but also other caregivers.
In this setting, hand hygiene practices during post-natal care and the first 6 hours in the home environment were consistently inadequate. Effective strategies are needed to promote safe hand hygiene practices within the post-natal care ward and home in low resource, high-burden settings. Such strategies need to target not just mothers and healthcare workers but also other caregivers.
Durvalumab is a standard drug used during maintenance therapy after chemoradiotherapy in patients with locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (LA-NSCLC). However, little is known about the clinical benefits of durvalumab after chemoradiotherapy in patients with LA-NSCLC with a performance status (PS) of 2 and/or aged > 75 years. As daily carboplatin plus concurrent thoracic radiotherapy is recommended for elderly patients according to guideline, the current phase II study aims to investigate the effect of daily carboplatin plus radiotherapy followed by durvalumab for patients with stage III NSCLC who have a PS of 2 and/or are older.

Daily carboplatin plus radiotherapy followed by durvalumab is performed for the patients with stage III NSCLC who have a PS of 2 and/or are older. This is a trial in progress manuscript.

Daily, intravenous, low-dose carboplatin (30 mg/m
in a 30-min infusion) is administered to patients 1 h before radiotherapy for the first 20 fractions. Radiotherapy for all patients consisted of 60 Gy administered as 30 fractions over 6 weeks.
