Computed tomography angiogram demonstrated complete occlusion of the paravisceral aorta. For perioperative lung cancer patients with acute arterial occlusion intraluminal tumor should be considered and thereby an open approach to revascularisation adopted.To describe the case of a young female patient, affected by Systemic Lupus Erythematous, hospitalized for severe SARS-CoV-2 infection pneumonia and presenting a treatment-resistant acute upper limb ischemia. Two days after hospital admission, the patient suffered sudden right upper limb pain associated with mild functional impairment. At physical examination, radial and ulnar pulses were absent, and no flow signal was detected at duplex ultrasound scan. Therefore, an acute limb ischemia diagnoses was posed. Despite several surgical and endovascular revascularization attempts, the patient underwent an above the elbow amputation in 10th postoperative day from first surgical embolectomy, and she died for respiratory failure 25 days after hospitalization. Our case of acute upper limb ischemia seems to confirm that clinical manifestation and fate of thrombotic disorder in COVID-19 patients could be precipitated by concomitant autoimmune diseases.
Patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD) are at risk for amputation. The aim of this study was to assess the type of revascularization prior to and the 30-day mortality rate after major amputation due to PAD.
Retrospective analysis of consecutive patients undergoing major amputation for PAD between 01/2000 and 12/2017 at a tertiary referral center. The number and target level of ipsilateral revascularizations prior to amputation were analyzed per patient and over the years. There were 3 types of revascularization (open, endovascular and combined treatment) at 3 levels aortoiliac, femoropopliteal and infrapopliteal. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression models were used to assess the association of level of amputation and patient characteristics with 30-day mortality.
A total of 312 patients (65.7% male) with a mean age of 73.3 ± 11 years underwent 338 major amputations 70 (21%) above/through knee and 268 (79%) below knee. A median of 2 (interquartile range, IQR 1-4) revascularizations wer needing infrapopliteal revascularizations, amputation was performed much sooner than in those with aortoiliac or femoropopliteal interventions, with no improvement over the years. Strategies to extend limb salvage in these patients should be the focus of further research.
Advances in virtual, augmented (AR) and mixed reality have led to the development of wearable technologies including head mounted displays (HMD). The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility to use HMD during endovascular surgery.
We propose an adaptation of AR-HMD using Microsoft HoloLens. Software was developed to enable visualization of the vascular system during endovascular procedures. A video was performed to present an overview of the device and show its use in real conditions.
The device allowed a successful visualization of perioperative angiography during peripheral angioplasty, carotid angioplasty and aortic aneurysm endovascular repair. The device was operated on voice command, preserving the environment sterility.

Vascular leiomyomas are rare begin tumor comprising mature vascular smooth muscles that originate in the tunica media of the blood vessels. Most of the tumors arise from the veins. Only a dozen cases of artery-arising vascular leiomyoma have been reported, most of which are presented as small nodules in the hand.
Here we report an interesting case of a large artery-arising vascular leiomyoma and perform a systematic review.
A 55-year-old man complained a 6×3 cm firm, mobile, tender and pulseless mass in the medial region of his left thigh. The computed tomography showed a well-demarcated fusiform tumor encircling the superficial femoral artery and was enhanced significantly with contrast. Genetic and qPCR screens were then performed in an attempt to uncover the full repertoire of CA miRNAs that are involved in regulating metamorphosis. miR-8 was identified as a potential candidate and further studied for its role in the CA. AEB071 molecular weight Overexpression of miR-8 in the CA increased cell size of the gland and expression of Jhamt (a gene coding for a key regulatory enzyme in JH biosynthesis), resulting in pupal lethality. By contrast, sponge-mediated reduction of miR-8 in the CA decreased cell size and Jhamt expression, but did not cause lethality.
