Furthermore, the accuracy of the proposed glucose sensor for glucose concentrations at a step of 100 mg/dL is verified by the Clarke error grid. Based on the measurement results, the proposed glucose sensor is demonstrated to be applicable to noninvasive and continuous monitoring in practical environments.Mutational signatures help identify cancer-associated genes that are being involved in tumorigenesis pathways. Hence, these pathways guide precision medicine approaches to find appropriate drugs and treatments. The pattern of mutations varies in different cancer types. Some mutations dysregulate protein function so that their accumulation is responsible for cancer development and might be associated with different cancer types. Therefore, mutations as a feature set can be used as an informative candidate to distinguish various cancer types. There are several options for demonstrating mutations. One might employ binary values to demonstrate mutation regions. Another potential method for extracting features is utilizing mutation interpreters. In this study, we investigate the trinucleotide mutational pattern of each cancer type. Moreover, we extract salient NMF-based mutational signatures across various cancer types. Then, we identify cancer-associated genes of a target cancer based on its salient signatures. DPCPX solubility dmso We evaluate the cancer-associated genes using survival and gene expression analysis in different stages of cancer. Furthermore, we introduce DiaDeL, which is a deep learning-based binary classifier. The DiaDeL model uses mutational signatures as input features and distinct a cancer type from the others. Our proposed model outperforms six state-of-the-art methods with 0.824 and 0.88 for accuracy and AUC, respectively.Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has the longest clinical history in Asia and contributes a lot to health maintenance worldwide. An essential step during the TCM diagnostic process is syndrome induction, which comprehensively analyzes the symptoms and generates an overall summary of the symptoms. Given a set of symptoms, the existing herb recommenders aim to generate the corresponding herbs as a treatment by inducing the implicit syndrome representations based on TCM prescriptions. As different symptoms have various importance during the comprehensive consideration, we argue that treating the co-occurred symptoms equally to do syndrome induction in the previous studies will lead to the coarse-grained syndrome representation. In this paper, we bring the attention mechanism to model the syndrome induction process. Given a set of symptoms, we leverage an attention network to discriminate the symptom importance and adaptively fuse the symptom embeddings. Besides, we introduce a TCM knowledge graph to enrich the input corpus and improve the quality of representation learning. Further, we build a KG-enhanced Multi-Graph Neural Network architecture, which performs the attentive propagation to combine node feature and graph structural information. Extensive experimental results on two TCM data sets show that our proposed model has the outstanding performance over the state-of-the-arts.The present work exhibits a novel design of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor, which comprises CaF2 prism, TiO2, metal (Ag/Au), PtSe2, 2D materials (graphene/ transition metal dichalcogenides (MoS2/WS2)) and sensing medium, for point-of-care detection of various stages of malaria diseases. The transfer matrix method (TMM) is employed to examine the angular reflectivity of the proposed structure after judiciously optimizing the layer thicknesses and layer numbers. Phase interrogation technique is utilised to validate the position of occurrence of resonance angles. Additionally, the proposed SPR structure is designed using COMSOL Multiphysics, to assay the electric field intensity and electric field enhancement factor near the edge of 2D material-sensing layer interface. Simulation upshots revealed that the use of new class of 2D materials catapult the sensor performance to a new height compared to the traditional SPR configuration. A maximum sensitivity of 240.10°/RIU, quality factor of 78.46 RIU-1 and detection accuracy of 1.99 is attained for Ag-based SPR configuration with bilayer of WS2. Sensing parameters are compared with previously reported works to prove the superiority of the present research. Moreover, the real-time and label-free detection of malaria diseases makes the suggested sensor worth to fabricate as a SPR chip with the recent nanofabrication technologies. In this work, we propose applying a time-varying electric field to a time-slotted molecular communication system with ionized message particles to combat inter-symbol interference (ISI) and enhance the transmission performance. Firstly, the solution to the Nernst-Planck equation, which describes the motion of ions under the electric field, is derived. With the derived solution, the bit error probability (BEP) and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve are analyzed. Then, the time-varying electric field is optimized by the proposed algorithms to respectively minimize the error probability (MinEP), maximize the signal-to-interference ratio (MaxSIR), and maximize the sensing probability (MaxSP). For solving the MinEP and MaxSIR problems, algorithms based on the approximate gradient descent method are proposed. In addition, an efficient algorithm is proposed for solving the MaxSP problem. The proposed MinEP and MaxSIR schemes are shown to effectively mitigate ISI, and the proposed MaxSP scheme delivers the near-optimal performance with low complexity, demonstrating that the performance of molecular communications can be significantly enhanced by applying the time-varying electric field. This work presents the first quantitative ultrasonic sound speed images of ex vivo limb cross-sections containing both soft tissue and bone using Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) with level set (LS) and travel time regularization. The estimated bulk sound speed of bone and soft tissue are within 10% and 1%, respectively, of ground truth estimates. The sound speed imagery shows muscle, connective tissue and bone features. Typically, ultrasound tomography (UST) using FWI is applied to imaging breast tissue properties (e.g. sound speed and density) that correlate with cancer. With further development, UST systems have the potential to deliver volumetric operator independent tissue property images of limbs with non-ionizing and portable hardware platforms. This work addresses the algorithmic challenges of imaging the sound speed of bone and soft tissue by combining FWI with LS regularization and travel time methods to recover soft tissue and bone sound speed with improved accuracy and reduced soft tissue artifacts when compared to conventional FWI. The value of leveraging LS and travel time methods is realized by evidence of improved bone geometry estimates as well as promising convergence properties and reduced risk of final model errors due to un-modeled shear wave propagation. Ex vivo bulk measurements of sound speed and MRI cross-sections validates the final inversion results.Transcranial focused ultrasound (FUS) in conjunction with circulating microbubbles injection is the sole non-invasive technique that temporally and locally opens the blood-brain barrier (BBB), allowing targeted drug delivery into the central nervous system (CNS). However, single-element FUS technologies do not allow the simultaneous targeting of several brain structures with high-resolution, and multi-element devices are required to compensate the aberrations introduced by the skull. In this work, we present the first preclinical application of acoustic holograms to perform a bilateral BBB opening in two mirrored regions in mice. The system consisted of a single-element focused transducer working at 1.68~MHz, coupled to a 3D-printed acoustic hologram designed to produce two symmetric foci in anesthetized mice textitin vivo and, simultaneously, compensate the aberrations of the wavefront caused by the skull bones. T1-weighed MR images showed gadolinium extravasation at two symmetric quasi-spherical focal spots. By encoding time-reversed fields, holograms are capable of focusing acoustic energy with a resolution near the diffraction limit at multiple spots inside the skull of small preclinical animals. This work demonstrates the feasibility of hologram-assisted BBB opening for low-cost and highly-localized targeted drug delivery in the CNS in symmetric regions of separate hemispheres.Hyper-reflective foci (HRF) refers to the spot-shaped, block-shaped areas with characteristics of high local contrast and high reflectivity, which is mostly observed in retinal optical coherence tomography (OCT) images of patients with fundus diseases. HRF mainly appears hard exudates (HE) and microglia (MG) clinically. Accurate segmentation of HE and MG is essential to alleviate the harm in retinal diseases. However, it is still a challenge to segment HE and MG simultaneously due to similar pathological features, various shapes and location distribution, blurred boundaries, and small morphology dimensions. To tackle these problems, in this paper, we propose a novel global information fusion and dual decoder collaboration-based network (GD-Net), which can segment HE and MG in OCT images jointly. Specifically, to suppress the interference of similar pathological features, a novel global information fusion (GIF) module is proposed, which can aggregate the global semantic information efficiently. To further improve the segmentation performance, we design a dual decoder collaborative workspace (DDCW) to comprehensively utilize the semantic correlation between HE and MG while enhancing the mutual influence on them by feedback alternately. To further optimize GD-Net, we explore a joint loss function which integrates pixel-level with image-level. The dataset of this study comes from patients diagnosed with diabetic macular edema at the department of ophthalmology, University Medical Center Groningen, the Netherlands. Experimental results show that our proposed method performs better than other state-of-the-art methods, which suggests the effectiveness of the proposed method and provides research ideas for medical applications.Representations related to past experiences play a critical role in memory and decision-making processes. The rat hippocampus expresses these types of representations during sharp-wave ripple (SWR) events, and previous work identified a minority of SWRs that contain 'replay' of spatial trajectories at ∼20x the movement speed of the animal. Efforts to understand replay typically make multiple assumptions about which events to examine and what sorts of representations constitute replay. We therefore lack a clear understanding of both the prevalence and the range of representational dynamics associated with replay. Here, we develop a state space model that uses a combination of movement dynamics of different speeds to capture the spatial content and time evolution of replay during SWRs. Using this model, we find that the large majority of replay events contain spatially coherent, interpretable content. Furthermore, many events progress at real-world, rather than accelerated, movement speeds, consistent with actual experiences.
