Compassionate care is considered a moral dimension of nursing practice and an essential component of high quality care. This study aimed to answer these questions (1) What are the facilitators and barriers of providing compassionate nursing care in the clinical setting? (2) Which strategies do nurses use to provide compassionate care? (3) What is the specific model of compassionate care for the nursing context? A grounded theory approach was used in this study. A total of 21 nurses working in diverse clinical settings participated in the study. Purposive and theoretical sampling was used to select the participants. Data were collected by in-depth face to face interviews and analyzed by the constant comparative method. Ethical approval was gained from the Ethical Review Board of Tabriz University of Medical sciences. The analysis resulted in the development of three main themes (a) contextual factors affecting compassionate care, (b) the compassionate care actions, and (c) the consequences of compassionate care. The main dimensions of compassionate care are demonstrated in a Compassionate Nursing Care Model. Nurses' ability on providing compassionate care is influenced by individual and organizational factors that may facilitate or inhibit this type of care. Leadership and nurse managers should remove the barriers which diminish the nurses' ability to provide compassionate care and support them to engage in compassionate care programs. Identifying and recruiting compassionate nurses, developing their compassionate capacity, and providing role models of compassion could improve the flourishing of person-centered and compassionate care in clinical settings. The Compassionate Nursing Care Model (CNCM) provides a model to guide nursing care and research.Proper inhaler use is critical to asthma management, but many children and youth do not use their inhalers correctly. School nurses are ideally positioned and have an important role in assessing the inhaler technique and knowledge regarding its use among students. This article discusses common student errors with inhaler technique, along with knowledge deficits surrounding use of asthma inhalers. A tool for assessing inhaler use is provided, in addition to suggestions for how to assist students with improved inhaler technique. By assessing inhaler technique and knowledge early in the school year, school nurses proactively assist in improved student management of their asthma.Multiple de novo brain arteriovenous malformations (bAVM) have been reported in the literature, raising questions about the contended purely congenital nature of these lesions. We present the 15-year course of a pediatric patient, who initially presented at age 5 with a thalamic cavernous malformation and was treated with radiosurgery, and then subsequently developed a thalamic de novo bAVM immediately adjacent to the initial lesion location, discovered 2 years later. Treatment of the bAVM entailed two transarterial embolizations and one radiosurgery session which ultimately led to complete angiographic resolution. Finally, this patient's course was complicated by intraparenchymal hemorrhage and acute obstructive hydrocephalus, and further imaging revealed two newly formed cavernous malformations, also associated with the initial lesion's location, that have remained stable since their formation. This case likely represents the second-hit model for the formation of vascular malformations, as sparsely supported by the current literature. According to this, genetically aberrant, yet quiescent, brain areas might promote the de novo formation of vascular malformations after brain injury, including radiation.
The aim of this study is to summarize a single-center experience of hybrid debranching endovascular repair of the aortic arch and proximal descending thoracic aorta (DTA) with regard to the mid-term outcomes with highlighting the difference between the landing zones 0-2.

A retrospective review of data from a prospectively collected registry (Gangnam Severance Endovascular Aortic Registry) was performed. From among 332 patients whose aortic pathology was managed with TEVAR, 112 patients who underwent hybrid arch repair during the study period between 2012 and 2016 were identified. The patients were grouped into three cohorts according to the proximal landing zones (0, 1, and 2) of Ishimaru. The early outcome (30-days) in terms of mortality, morbidity, supra-aortic vessels patency, and presence of endoleak were analyzed. The survival, freedom from re-intervention, and major complications during follow-up were demonstrated.

During the study period. 112 patients (mean age 65±7, 79% males) were included. Theand freedom from re-intervention were not statistically significant among the three zones. GSK-3 beta phosphorylation However, the survival rate and freedom from intervention tend to be higher in zone 2 versus zone 0 (
= .07 and .09), respectively.

Hybrid debranching endovascular aortic arch repair is feasible and relatively safe with acceptable mid-term outcomes. Zone 0 patients has worse early and late outcomes in comparison to other zones. Careful patient selection and improved endovascular technology may be the key to improve the outcomes.

The study thematically analysed the narratives of 35 women with disabilities - including mental, physical, auditory and visual - (age range  = 15-53), rural and urban that were collected through four focus groups and eight case stories of rape survivors. As presented in the statements of the women surveyed, the combination of stereotypes and prejudices linked to disability and unequal gender relations make these women predominantly vulnerable to gender-based violence, especially sexual violence. This increased vulnerability to sexual assault emphasises the processes of social exclusion these women experience, at all levels of society, which for most of them results in limited social participation. The findings of this study showed the need for policies related to women's empowerment and inclusion of people with disabilities to adopt an intersectional approach, to better consider the specific issues of women with disabilities.Self-reflection is suggested to attenuate feelings, yet researchers disagree on whether adopting a distant or near perspective, or processing the experience abstractly or concretely, is more effective. Given the relationship between psychological distance and level of abstraction, we suggest the "construal-matching hypothesis" Psychological distance and abstraction differently influence emotion intensity, depending on whether the emotion's appraisal involves low-level or high-level construal. Two meta-analyses tested the effects of psychological distance (k = 230) and level-of-abstraction (k = 98) manipulations on emotional experience. A distant perspective attenuated emotional experience (g = 0.52) but with weaker effects for high-level (g = 0.29; for example, self-conscious emotions) than low-level emotions (g= 0.64; for example, basic emotions). Level of abstraction only attenuated the experience of low-level emotions (g = 0.2) and showed a reverse (nonsignificant) effect for high-level emotions (g = -0.13). These results highlight differences between distancing and level-of-abstraction manipulations and the importance of considering the type of emotion experienced in emotion regulation.ABSTRACTOur study aims to determine the predictors of access to HIV services among disabled persons in two West African countries. This was a secondary analysis from a cross-sectional study carried out in Burkina Faso, in 2017 and Niger, in 2018. People with a disability of severity 3 or 4 and aged 15-69 were included in the study. Access to HIV-related services was measured separately through three variables (access to condoms when needed, history of testing for HIV and ever attended at an HIV-related service). Factors associated with access to HIV-related services were identified using logistic regression. 1794 participants were recorded, including 973 in Burkina Faso and 821 in Niger. The ability to easily obtain a condom when needed was reported by 29.4% of respondents in Burkina Faso and 5.7% of respondents in Niger. The proportion of participants who had been tested for HIV was 32.2% in Burkina Faso and 13.6%. We observed that 5.7% and 3.5% of the participants were in contact with an HIV-related service. Only educational status was associated with access to HIV prevention services in both countries. There is a need to increase the access to HIV prevention for disabled persons in the two countries.Client suicide refers to cases where a mental health practitioner is exposed, affected, or bereaved by a client's suicide and is known to have a profound impact on MHPs. The current study investigated the role of coping styles in understanding short- and long-term impact of client suicide. An international sample of 213 mental health practitioners who experienced a client suicide completed a survey on coping strategies (i.e., Brief-COPE) and the impact of traumatic events (i.e., impact of event scale-revised, long-term emotional impact scale and professional practice impact scale). Results indicate coping strategies explain 51% of the short-term, 64% of the long-term emotional and 55% of the long-term professional differences in impact of client suicide. Moreover, while an Avoidant coping style predicted more impact of client suicide, Positive coping and Humor predicted less impact of client suicide. Social Support coping did not predict impact of client suicide. Implications for both research and clinical practice are discussed.
The effectiveness of compulsory treatment orders (CTO) in psychiatric practice is an area in need of evidence. There are no recent New Zealand publications on outcomes for patients under CTOs. This study examined the association between CTOs and subsequent rehospitalisation for patients with schizophrenia or related disorders.

Two year outcome data for 326 consecutive patients discharged in 2013 and 2014 was obtained from the Programme for the Integration of Mental Health Data database. Regression analyses were performed with rehospitalisation as the main outcome.

For the 54% of patients discharged under CTOs, rehospitalisation was 2-4 times more likely for the CTO group than for voluntary patients. Patients under CTOs also spent longer in hospital post index admission (IA). However, patients placed under CTOs during IA stayed longer than those under CTOs prior to IA. Ethnicity did not contribute significantly to any of the findings.

This study did not show that patients under CTOs were associated with subsequent reduced resource use.
