Herbologi adalah pelajaran tentang tumbuhan ajaib di dunia sihir maupun tidak. Dalam Herbologi, siswa belajar untuk merawat dan memanfaatkan tanaman, juga belajar tentang sifat magis mereka, juga untuk apa mereka digunakan.
Banyak tanaman menyediakan bahan-bahan untuk ramuan dan obat-obatan, sementara yang lain memiliki efek magis tersendiri. Kelas-kelas ini diadakan di halaman Hogwarts, yaitu di rumah kaca.

Ciri tanaman :
- Mempertahankan diri dengan duri kuning yg besar seperti paku.
- Menembakan paku jika terancam.
- Mantra penghancurnya Incendio.
"Mereka adalah semak-semak Paku. Kamu mungkin melucuti mantra Incendio pada mereka tetapi jaga jarak lah untuk menghindari jarum mereka" —Pomona Sprout.
Spiky Bush merupakan semak-semak dengan paku tumbuh disekitar tubuh mereka. Mereka bisa menembakan paku ini pada manusia,namun dapat dihancurkan dengan menggunakan Fire-Making Spell. Mereka tercakup dalam tahun pertama kelas Herbologi di Hogwarts.
Menurut Profesor Sprout, ini adalah yg terbaik untuk tetap mencoba dan menyingkirkan mereka dari jarak jauh. Melihat duri-durinya seperti paku mereka akan membalas jika mereka sedang diserang, dan siapa pun yang mendekati pasti akan terkena paku tersebut.
