Favourite meals evolve from the mood I am feeling and the friends I am with. When I’m with friends for a light-hearted friendly happy chat, in a good group we’re all into lots of tapas-like dishes, which have rich flavour yet a light atmosphere. There’s an amazing little tapas restaurant in Camden called Jamon Jamon which does really good and rich food. When in situations like that I’m also inclined to try new flavours and drinks, like the last time I was there I discovered the deliciousness of chorizo and honey! A combination that I wouldn’t have thought about prior to this, but the social atmosphere made me try it on a whim and discover my love for it. On the other hand, in a more serious social setting, or if I’m just catching up with one friend rather than in a group I tend to dine in a more known setting, less likely to try out new things and more prone to ordering the same over again.

As for “go-to” drinks for a mealtime, again, for a social setting like the former above I’d be looking at more quirky drinks for a meal like Sangria (going back to that tapas theme here again) and various new cocktails etc. Where as in the latter setting I’d go for white/red wine, or actually more sweet/unhealthy drinks which are still a little out there, but that aren’t a crazy alcoholic cocktail (my favourite of these is a the Oreo Milkshake that both Byron Burger and GBK do. Such calories, yet I get it every time!).
