Answer: No, The impudp and imtcp modules are not loaded by default since they are in a comment line. They are the input modules for network log messages received via port 514
.These modules need to be enabled however to send the logs remotely by uncommenting the lines which I did for my setup.

Answer: /var/log/auth. log holds the authoriv messages.

Answer: Because /var/log/messages file is commented out in the configur /etc/rsyslog.conf file. This location is also no longer in use by defat
The same data is now saved in /var/log/syslog.

Answer: The directory /var/log/cron.log is commented out in the setup of rsyslog.d/
50-default.conf file thus cron messages are stored in syslog messages and this is due to the all-encompassing (*.*) log rule setup

Answer: /var/log/syslog displays general system messages and information (i.e. log of all activity).

Answer: Mail messages are stored in three locations which are the /var/log/syslog, /var/log/mail.log, and /var/log/mail.err. Location for news messages on other hand are commented out thus it's only stored in the /var/log/syslog file.
