Type O Negative are a New York City-based gothic rock band. They have seven studio records, two best–of compilations and two concert DVDs. They are often regarded as one the most influential and important metal bands of all time.

Slow, Deep and Hard, was the first album. The songs featured Black Sabbath-esque dirge rhythms, maniacal outbursts, and industrial and gothic atmospheres. Lyrically, these songs were multi-part theatrical epics. They explored themes such as heartbreak and revenge on a cheating partner.

Bloody Kisses became a hit in 1993 and was certified platinum in the US. The album was also the first Roadrunner Records record in the US to attain gold status. The band received numerous awards and recognitions over their lifetime.
