Five Things You're Not Sure About About Vinyl Fences
How to Install a PVC Fence

There are a few things to be aware of when you're considering installing a fence. First, you must decide the location you want the fence to be installed. The next step is to prepare the ground. Then, you'll need to put in the posts. You may also need to adjust the fence's height based on the size of your property.

Preparing the ground

It is essential to prepare the ground for the fence. This is because the fence posts have to be placed in a secure way. The fence is prone to fly away if not secured.

Before you start digging, make sure to check with your local utility provider to ensure there aren't any underground utilities that could block the installation. In many areas, you can dial 811 and have the utility company mark your yard for underground lines.

A gravel base should be prepared for the fence posts. This will aid in the drainage of water away from the posts. It will provide a solid foundation on which to put the blocks.

Once you have the base, it is time to set up the vinyl fence. The material should be at a minimum of four feet long and one-inch thick. You can employ an auger for digging the holes for fence posts in the event that you have it.

Before digging, you should remove any plants and shrubs that may interfere with the excavation. In some instances it is easier to get rid of the ground rather than digging it. Avoid digging in rocky or sandy soil, if you are forced to.

Then, mark the highest and lowest points in your yard. A string level is the best way to do this. Attach the string level to stakes at least 1 foot above the ground. The string level serves as a guideline for the fence posts.

If your property is located in an extremely dry climate you will probably have to drill pilot holes prior to drilling. This will speed up the process.

You'll also have to mark the holes. Spray paint or a marker to mark your holes. To ensure straight posts you can also use a mason’s line.

You can also fill the gap with decorative stones. These stones are suitable for smaller gaps. You'll have to find another method of filling gaps that are larger. You can also try placing dirt in the gap. This is a low-cost and cost-effective solution.

The postings are placed in the appropriate places.

Setting the posts in place isn't an easy task. The first step is to find the right place. You can do this using a spirit level, a mark made to measure the width of the post, or a measuring instrument.

Then, you should set the corner and end posts in their place. Also, install the top and middle rails. Cutting may be required. Rails can be used as an alternative to posts as a spacer.

After you have determined the center of each hole using a tape measure or stakes, mark the middle of the posts with a tape measure. You can also draw a string line to help determine the correct depth. Once the string line is drawn, you can tie the ends of the posts to the string. This will ensure that the fence will be straight.

After the posts are firmly set then fill the bottoms of the posts with six inches of dirt. This will help keep the posts in place and provide drainage.

When you set the fence posts in concrete, make sure to use quick setting concrete. This type of concrete sets in three to four minutes. If you're installing privacy fencing, make sure not to over tighten the panels. The panels should sit 22 inches above the ground. The panels should be secured using #10 x 1" self-tapping stainless steel screws.

You can connect the posts to your vinyl fence by using two screws. One screw should be left at each end of the privacy fence. Duct tape can be used to cover the bottom horizontal rails prior putting them into the posts. This stops concrete from getting into the horizontal rails below.

When you are satisfied with the placement, remove the duct tape and insert the top rail into the posts. vinyl fence installers may be attached to the rails.

You can also fix the rails at the bottom to the corners. Aluminum u-channel is a great way to attach the rails to your post.

Assembling the panels

Getting the fence posts lined up correctly is crucial to the success of installing vinyl fence. Based on the design of your fence, you may need to use different techniques. If you're installing an square or oval fence just a few simple steps can start you off.

Before you begin, ensure that you check your deed as well as local Zoning laws. Also, notify neighbors of your plan. You may need an building permit in the event that you want to build a vinyl fence.

Once all your posts are in place It is now time to install your rail brackets. These screws are fixed to the inside of the post. This makes it easier to manipulate of the posts when they are placed.

Before installing your rail brackets, install your bottom rail. Pre-assembled vinyl panels usually have two rails. You may need to cut the rails to suit your terrain.

Once the bottom rail is installed then you can put in the middle rail. The top rail can be put in place in the same manner. This step can be done using an aluminum u-channel. It can be inserted into posts using #8 x 1'’ screws.

The pickets can then be placed one at a time. Once they're all in place, you can begin attaching your C channel brackets. You can also place stakes on the corners to help hold them in place. You can use cotton string to join the stakes.

You can also use a spray paint marker to mark your line. This will make sure your fence is level as you put it up.

Finally, you need to install your privacy panels. These panels should be placed on the backside your fence. You can also add pea gravel to your holes to keep them in place. If you have a mild slope, you can tackle it by putting up your fence panels at one end , so that they "step down" towards the slope. If the slope is steep your fence will need to be constructed so that it "steps down".

Problems with height changes

If you're planning to put up a PVC fence up you might have difficulty with lining up the posts. There are two ways to achieve this. The first is to put the posts on the ground. The other is to line them up. The first method is easier to use and assures that you have concrete underneath and around the post. The second method requires digging out the posts and then backfill them with dirt.

Make sure you have enough backfill to hold the posts in place when digging them out. You will need to dig about six inches to insert the posts in the base of the gravel. You may also employ a hole driller to drill holes. The tension bar can be attached to the mesh in the last step. Attach the steel mesh on the top of the fence.

If you are having trouble aligning the posts, you can eliminate any rails that are too high. Although this can be difficult but it is feasible to complete the task with two persons. If you own the tools of a hammer and chisel you can tighten the threads of the bolts. This will prevent them from coming loose when you remove the fence's top.
