For iT Administrators - get Minecraft: Education Edition

When you sign up for an Minecraft: Education Edition trial, or purchase a Minecraft: Education Edition subscription, Minecraft: Education Edition will be added to the inventory of your Microsoft Admin Center which is connected to your Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) tenant. Only administrators of your company are able to access your Microsoft Admin Center.



If you do not have an Azure AD or Office 365 tenant, you can set up an absolutely free Office 365 Education subscription when you sign up for Minecraft: Education Edition. For more details, look up Office 365 Education pricing and plans.



Settings for Microsoft 365 A3 or Microsoft A5 customers with 365



Schools that purchased these products also have the option for making Minecraft Education Edition available to their students:



- Microsoft 365 A3 or Microsoft 365 A5 - Minecraft: Education Edition



If your school has these products in your tenant, admins can select to enable Minecraft: Education Edition for students using Microsoft 365 A3 or Microsoft 365 A5. Select Users from the left-hand menu in Microsoft Admin Center. Select the Users list to add or remove Minecraft: Education Edition users. Add the relevant A3 or A5 licenses in the event that it hasn't been assigned yet.



Note



If you choose to add an instructor's license and the user is assigned an instructor position in the application and will have higher permissions.



After you have selected the correct product license, switch Minecraft: Education Edition on or off based on if you want to add Minecraft: Education Edition to the user (default will be on).



If you disable this option after students have been using Minecraft: Education Edition they'll have up to 30 more days to play Minecraft Education Edition before they lose access.



How to obtain Minecraft: Education Edition



Microsoft verified academic institution accounts will be granted access to Minecraft Education Edition. This grants faculty accounts 25 free logins and student accounts 10 free logins. To purchase direct licenses, visit Minecraft: Education Edition - direct purchase.



If you've been approved and are part of the Enrollment for Education Solutions volume license program, you can purchase a volume license of Minecraft Education Edition. For more information, go to Minecraft: Education Edition volume license.



Minecraft: Education Edition Direct purchase



Go to https://education.minecraft.net/ and select How to Buy in the top navigation bar.



Scroll down to the bottom and select Buy Now under Direct Purchase.

This will direct you to the purchase page within the Microsoft Admin center. Log in to your administrator account.



If necessary, provide any information about payment or your organization.



Select the quantity of licenses you would like to purchase and then click Place Order.



Once you've purchased the licenses you'll need to assign them to users in the Admin Center.

Minecraft: Education Edition - volume licensing



Qualified educational institutions can purchase Minecraft: Education Edition licenses through their Microsoft channel partner. Schools must be part of the Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES) volume licensing program. Educational institutions should work with their channel partner to decide which Minecraft: Education Edition licensing program is most appropriate for their institution. This is how it works:



Your channel partner will submit and process your volume license order, your licenses will be shown on Volume Licensing Service Center, and the licenses will be listed in your Microsoft Store for Education inventory. - An email will be sent to you with a link for Microsoft Store for Education. Log into Microsoft Store for Education to distribute and manage the Minecraft: Education Edition licenses. Check out Distribute Minecraft for more information about distribution options



Minecraft: Education Edition payment options



You can pay for Minecraft: Education Edition by credit or debit card or with an invoice.



Credit or debit cards



Click to add a new method of payment at the time of purchase. Enter the required information for your credit or debit card.



Invoices



Invoices are now a supported payment method for Minecraft: Education Edition. There are a few prerequisites:



Administration only (not supported for Teachers) Minimum invoice of $500 for your first purchase $15,000 invoice maximum (for all invoices in your organization)



To pay an invoice



During the purchase, click Add a new payment method.



Choose the Invoice option and fill in the details needed to create an invoice. You can include a tracking number, or other information relevant to your organization to the PO number item.
