Minecraft 1.18 Release Date: what's Coming in Caves And Cliffs Part 2?

What's in store for Minecraft 1.18, and when will it launch? Together, 1.17 and 1.18 form the massive Caves and Cliffs update. International dir This update will forever alter Minecraft's world with amazing new blocks, new resources and stunning changes to the way that worlds are generated. We'll discuss in the following article.



Here's what to expect with Caves and Cliffs Part 2, along with the latest news on the Minecraft 1.18 release date.



Minecraft 1.18 will be released for Java and Bedrock editions on November 30 according to Minecraft.net. This update will be part 2 of the Caves and Cliffs update, which was originally meant to be released in entirety together with 1.17. However, Mojang decided to split up Caves and Cliffs across two major updates to give them more time to work on the huge changes these releases will bring to Minecraft.



And I do mean monumental. Caves and Cliffs Part 1 introduced over 90 new block types, brand new creatures such as Glow Squids, Goats and Axolotls, and new tools such as Lightning Rods and Spyglasses. Caves and Cliffs part 2 will completely alter Minecraft's terrain generation and fill the most secluded levels with a myriad of new resources and bizarre items. Let's look at the Minecraft 1.18 update features.



Terrain changes: exploring below Y=0



In Minecraft 1.18, world generation is being overhauled and for the first time you'll be able to dig below the Y-Level 0.



The new depth is 64. Below Y=0, you'll enter what's known as the "Deepslate Layer" in which stones are transformed into deepslate block. This is the case for ore veins too: below Y=0, you will find gold, copper and iron in deepslate veins.



The new underground terrain generation features will allow you to discover all kinds of new cave structures in Minecraft 1.18. The Caves and Cliffs changes were to include the all-new Deep Dark biome, but this biome, along with its dangerous denizen the Warden has been delayed due to Minecraft 1.19 The Wild Update.

The towering mountains



Minecraft 1.18 is being redesigned. The mountains now are generated in a different way. Instead of just having one or two "extreme hills" or "mountain" types of biomes, there's now five sub-biomes that comprise the various layers of each mountain:



Mountain Meadow (Y=100-140), which is the home of flowers sweet berry bushes and Mountain Grove (Y=110–140),: snowy, home for rabbits and Polar bears. - Snowy Slopes, where goats live. Lofty Peaks (Y=170+) are peaks of stone and snow, and ice. - Snow Capped Peaks (Y=170+): same as Lofty Peaks but cold enough to allow Packed Ice as well.



Pay close attention to the Y-Levels, and you'll see that 1.18 increases the maximum height of mountains. Before they capped off at around Y=140 however now they can reach up to the limit of Y=255. This is a great idea for towers and castles that are high up on the mountains.



However there is a chance that not all mountains will be as tall as this. Only the highest mountains will have the new Lofty Peaks or Snow Capped Peaks biomes. These terrain changes will bring a new sense to exploration and discovery to any 1.18 Minecraft world. Lush Cave and Dripstone Cave biomes



Caves and Cliffs Part 2, which is diving back below the ground and brings two cave types: The Lush Cave and Dripstone Cave.



Lush Caves are temperate caves filled with moss, vines and other exotic flora like Glow Berries, Azalea trees, Spore Blossoms and roots, and dripleaf: a brand new type of block that can only carry a player's weight for a brief period of time before tipping over and letting the player fall. Sounds like Lush Caves are gonna be great environments for some parkour. I can't wait for the most powerful Minecraft shader pack to show me these gorgeous caves.



Dripstone Caves are, naturally, home to the new Dripstone blocks that naturally expand by drips to form organic-looking stalagmites and stalactites. Apart from this amazing terrain feature Dripstone Caves function like any other cave, but they'll no doubt be sought-after for the dripstone.



What about the other features that were promised in Caves and Cliffs Part 2?



Many of the notable additions originally scheduled to be released in Minecraft 1.18 have been delayed. They will be arriving to us in Minecraft 1.19 at the most recent. It is likely to be released in 2022 or so. These include the Warden Sculk Blocks the Deep Dark biome, and Sculk Blocks.



It's been confirmed that at least three of those delayed features (namely Bundles and Archaeology) won't be included in the Wild Update. However, the Minecraft team is trying to ensure that none are being cancelled. Still, it's sad news for those of us who have been most excited about these changes however, at least we'll soon be able to experience the huge new terrain that Minecraft 1.18 will bring.
