To whom it may concern,
I am writing this letter with the hope that it will reach Mr. and Mrs. Gates, but as I know that they are extremely busy people and this is not the means of contact with them, I am writing this letter to the poor person who has to deal with writings like these every day.
My name is Melisa Fernández Fuentes, and I am from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I am 28 years old and I am currently studying to be an English teacher, so I apologize if my English is not perfect, but I am still studying and perfecting myself day by day. I'm not going to seek to move anyone with false, sad and heartbreaking stories, because although I have problems, and tragedies have occurred in my life and in my family, I think we all have our problems and we struggle every day to survive. The reason why I'm writting this letter is simple: I desperately need $USD 2,500 to pay off debts that my mother and I have been carrying since my father's death, and to be able to continue studying. As I mentioned before, I am still a university student, so I can not dedicate myself full-time to work, besides that the current work situation in my country is quite, if not too bad, and the opportunities for young students are very low. Likewise, I must pay the university I am studying in (I hope to graduate next year). My mother works in a shopping mall at night. She does not make much money, and considering the current economic situation in Argentina, where inflation is growing day by day, money is less and less in our home, considering that I also live with my younger sister, who is currently studying at the university and, like me, it is almost impossible for her to work.
During the last year, each time it became more difficult for my mother and me to pay the taxes (and the little that I earn with some classes that I get to give) and the maintenance of our home, my studies and those of my younger sister, so we were getting small loans from the bank to be able to support us and pay the universities, taxes and so on. With the devaluation of money and constant inflation here, the debts were accumulating. Today we owe something more than $USD 2,500.
I'm not asking for all the money, it's a lot and I know it, but even $USD10 will help us. I'm very ashamed for having to do this, but I'm also desperate.
Please, help us as much as you can. As I told you before, even $USD10 will be very helpful and very, very welcome.
And please, may I ask you to contact me even to tell me that you can't help me? It would mean the world to me if you can answer me, even to say "no".
