Celebrities’ Guide To Something: What You Need To Malding
a few weeks ago, they asked for me to compose an essay on one of the paintings by Hopper, one of the Nighthawks and I, as an excellent researcher, went to find out. Since it is generally known or at the least learned from experience, that to understand a painting, it is necessary to know the history of the painting, the author and most importantly the context within which he painted it. It is surely something universal, transversal to the space and time, and therefore accessible even after hundreds of years. The meanings alter, as does the way society and the world evolve, and what previously could be clearly seen, perhaps decades ago, is now evident. What was not considered before is now revealing the process to us in a different manner.

Re-defining a piece of work in the course of time
This is similar to what I think happens when you see the work of Hopper's " Nighthawks" that was shut at the bar late in the late at night, with that window, which resembles a fish tank, in the location of the characters that are who were observed.

I think that in this painting, Hopper would have wanted to provide space for the viewer to allow him to look at the silent tranquil, precise and serene scene that we are presented by the night.

This space, conceived for an active audience, is perhaps the keystone, which allows the painting to be reinterpreted over time and consequently to remain timeless, indestructible, modern, even very contemporary.

The piece, which was created in 1942, isn't immediately attributable to a precise historical moment, but it seems that the date of its creation can change with the change of the viewers, based on the moment at which the piece is seen.

I believe this is what is essential to reading, the time and space occupied to the reader Hopper wanted to create.

I'll explain.

While researching information and news on Hopper's " Nighthawks", I was able to see how people describe the film by highlighting these aspects:

"[...] the feeling of emptyness of the world that's shimmering patina starts to lose its luster. [...] The distinctively commercial essence of the myths is that they peel off their masks and show a displaced reality, without reliable sources of reference in the face of uncertainty and a lack of morality. "

The night and the transformation
I am of the opinion that this interpretation is a little ambiguous, that is, it's a interpretation provided from the socio-cultural context and by the dating associated with the work that took place in it was the United States between the 40s and 50s, in the boom in economics that redefined social and cultural assets in the lives of individuals who lived in a society which is even a little bourgeois, where night bars are seen as places of isolation, despair and existential emptiness.

It's a little true, but it's not the whole truth.

First time that I came across this painting, without having studied it, it brought me joy and peace, with its bright contrast and quiet nocturnal quality.

Perhaps, as a resident of the midst of a huge, noisy and bustling city, nighttime is one of the moments when I can experience the city with more peace with fewer people in the area more cars, less noise, more open spaces to make the most of, and the best place to be, beneath the starless urban sky. The night is a different meaning for me from those who frequented bars in the United States during the 40s When the sun sets down the city changes its appearance, and the streets become more free and simple.

It is impossible to ignore the way society has transformed itself in more than half a century of cultural and social changes, in between Pop and Rock culture, and between the psychedelic movement in the 1990s and 2000s.

Personally, as a child of the 90s, I have also grown up at night and by "growing up" I am referring to every one of the "formative" experiences that the night gave me. malding is for me common to be out at night usually walking through the neighborhood on Saturdays looking for the perfect party, dancing until the early hours, riding a motorbike or driving around in search of the last bar that is open you can grab a bread or hot pizza and where you can drink the last glass and smoke the last cigarette before dawn was set. Maybe from the 80s afterward, the night no longer in a way that scared those who stayed the house (let's take a look at the jazz movement, anti-prohibitionism and even the notorious Cursed Poets who were all great evening owls) and it has become the cradle where many personalities of society find the comfort and peace of other nighthawks.

Hopper's modern realist style
Today, Hopper's painting is reminiscent of numerous scenes from modern life. It makes me almost happy and, in all likelihood, sympathize with the three main characters, who have a chat while the bartender is cleaning the bar to end the day and then open another. People who are nocturnal seek peace in the solitude of the nocturnal company, meditate on their lives observing them through a glass . They meet as a tribe in the night, welcoming everyone , and never judging anyone. It's no accident that in the most ancient civilisations, such as the Indian one, the hour and a half before sunrise is known as Brahmamuhurta, or time of Brahma which is the ideal time to devote oneself to meditation, prayer studying, and contemplation. This is the time of day when the energy is more intense, intense but of tranquil, spiritual intensity.

There is no solitude nor emptiness in Hopper's painting; I saw more of it in the streets that were gentrified in the night quarters, as even the right-thinking folks started going out in the evening.

That's why even the most famous and oldest areas had to be turned into showcases for the consumer as well as the spontaneous aggregations of people who gathered in the square had to rearrange themselves in line, waiting for their turn while the sound of the drums that played on the the street was drowned out by police sirens. It is a worry for me now, that the night is desnatured by its mystical, timeless ambience, by its being an occasion of aggregation for the lone wolves, and is now an unintentional and productive element of the system, demanding transparency and respectability from the darkest corners within the cities.
