Everyone starts with 3 Naginata Soldiers in each province.
Unit movement is 2 friendly provinces per turn and 1 attack per turn.
You can move through ally territory, but you will capture it and it will count as an attack, since alliances are only between players.
After you gain control of 7 provinces, you can select to stay with the Japanese traditions or to accept the European influence. This will give you bonus units. You cannot change it afterwards, so think hard.
Unit Types
Naginata - 2 strenght - 1g cost, doesn't counter anything and gets countered by everyone
Yari - 2 strenght - 2g cost, counters Cavalry (+2 str) and Naginata (+3 str), gets countered by No-Dachi
No-Dachi - 4 strenght - 5g cost, counters Yari (+3 str) and Naginata (+6 str), gets countered by Cavalry
Cavalry - 6 strenght - 6g cost, counters No-Dachi (+2 str) and Naginata (+6 str), gets countered by Yari
Bow - 3 strenght - 2g cost, doesn't counter anything but noone counters them
Special Units
Samurai Units - Improved Basic units, +2 to str to Yari, No-Dachi, Cavalry and Bow (Tradition Path)
Canon - 12 strenght - 9g cost, ignores fortifications, countered by Cavalry (+4 str for them) (Western Path)
Flintlock - 6 strenght - 4g cost, counters Bow (+2 str), noone counters them (Western Path)
