Devil Snare merupakan tanaman dengan sifat magis yang keistimewaannya adalah kemampuan untuk mencengkram atau mencekik objek di sekelilingnya. Tanaman ini menggunakan cabang yg merambat dan sulur yang sensitif terhadap sentuhan. Jika tidak sengaja tersentuh, maka otomatis akan tercekik oleh tanaman ini.
Pada tahun 1995, Broderick Bode yang bekerja di Kementrian sihir, saat itu menjadi pasien di Rumah Sakit St Mungo, karena luka sihir. Kemudian seorang Pelahap Maut mengirimkan Devil’s Snare dalam pot ke rumah sakit dengan menyamar sebagai hadiah Natal untuk membungkamnya. Dan akhirnya Bode meninggal karena tercekik Devil's Snare.
Pada dasarnya Jerat Devil's Snare akan semakin kuat jika korbannya melawan. Namun apabila korbannya santai dalam hal ini, maka jerat Devil's Snare lama kelamaan akan melonggar dan melepaskan korbannya.
Meskipun tanaman ini sedikit berbahaya, ada beberapa penyihir yang masih nemeliharanya. Biasanya dijadikan tanaman hias ataupun perangkap.
Habitat tanaman ini adalah tempat yang gelap dan lembab. Sehingga ia memiliki kelemahan terhadap mantra cahaya.
