Mangaka (漫画家) (baca: man-ga-ka, atau ma-ng-ga-ka) adalah orang yang menggambar manga. Istilah manga (kanji: 漫画; hiragana: まんが; katakana: マンガ)
Di Jepang, orang dari segala usia membaca manga. Media mencakup karya dalam berbagai genre: aksi-petualangan, asmara, olahraga dan permainan, sejarah drama, komedi, fiksi ilmiah dan fantasi, misteri, detektif, horor, seksualitas, dan bisnis / perdagangan, dan lain-lain. Sejak 1950-an, manga telah terus menjadi bagian utama dari industri penerbitan Jepang
Komik Manga dipengaruhi, dari karya-karya asli, yang ada juga di bagian negara lain, khususnya di China, Hong Kong, dan Taiwan ("manhua"), dan Korea Selatan ("manhwa"). Di Perancis, "la nouvelle manga" telah dikembangkan sebagai bentuk bande dessinée komik digambar dalam gaya yang dipengaruhi oleh manga. Ada juga OEL manga di Amerika juga.
