Latar Belakang:
Dalam sebuah karya seni hampir dapat dipastikan adanya subject matter, yaitu inti atau pokok persoalan yang dihasilkan sebagai akibat adanya pengolahan objek yang terjadi dalam ide seseorang seniman dalam pengalaman pribadinya. Yang menjadi pilihan objek dalam penelitian ini ialah karya foto Warren Harold yang bertema Alternating Weekends. Dalam proses penciptaan karyanya, Warren Harold mencoba mengembangkan ide yang berkaitan tentang permasalahan yang terjadi dalam dirinya. Dalam upaya mengembangkan ide tersebut, Warren Harold menjadikan anaknya sebagai subjek utama dalam penciptaan karya fotografi yang ia buat. Ia membangun konsep karya foto-foto Alternating Weekends tersebut guna mengeratkan hubungan antara dirinya dan anaknya. Hal tersebut menjadi alasan dipilihnya karya-karya foto Warren Harold sebagai objek penelitian karena keunikannya dalam melihat subject matter, serta menjadikan dirinya sendiri sebagai ide untuk membuat karya fotografi.
