Over 2000 years ago the "First Emperor" got craft men to make 8000 clay soldiers. They were discovered in 1974, when they were digging a well. Each of the warriors had a different face. There was generals,warriors,archers, and horses. This tomb was as great or even better then the tombs of Egyptian Pharaohs. Each Warrior was 6 feet tall, and more then 600 pounds. It took years to make the statues. When a emperor dies his workers are killed with him, to serve him in the afterlife like they did in the living life. Some of the workers were fine with being buried with the emperor. The workers drank arsenic wine and were poisoned to death, this is the main theory on how the workers killed themselves when the emperor died. The period of waring states lasted over 200 years. After this human sacrifice ended. The soldiers could have been the emperors soldiers or from the imagination of the craft men. Finding the right clay for a warrior is hard to do. The clay warriors took 11 years to make 8000. Each of the warriors have the name of the craftsman hidden somewhere on the warrior. All of the warriors were made by hand, not using molds. 87 master craft men made all 8000 warriors, with other crafts men that were not so advanced. All of the warriors were painted, but most of it all faded.
