adrian agreste is the son of gabriel agreste, who owns a small but prosperous fashion boutique in paris. his mother died when he was very young and his father threw himself into his work to cope, and the business took off after a few years. his father is a little distant as a result, though he loves his son very much. adrian has a hopeless crush on marinette dupain-cheng, a girl in his class. he models for his father's company occasionally, but he wants to be a baker. he's very shy and not very outgoing socially, but he's extremely kind and caring.

marinette dupain-cheng is the daughter of sabine cheng and tom dupain, who own an extremely famous line of bakeries that have stores all across the world. they're very well-off but she never uses her money to put others down. she helps out in the home base bakery a lot and loves it, though the stress does get to her sometimes, her parents are very loving and they're all very close. she has a huge crush on chat noir.

nino is adrian's best friend. he's outgoing, friendly, well-liked, and obsessed with chat noir. he runs a chat noir fan blog and is often in danger because of his insistence upon filming akuma battles.

alya is marinette's best friend. she's easygoing and friendly and only wants what's best for marinette. she has a crush on nino.

chat noir is one half of paris' superhero duo. he's responsible and intelligent and good at quick thinking, and is the "leader" of their team. he's indulgent at best and annoyed at worst when it comes to ladybug's crush on him but loves her (as a friend at first, but then as more). he thinks her jokes are funny but terrible at the same time.

ladybug is one half of paris' superhero duo. she's the more reckless, action-oriented of the two of them, and takes things less seriously than chat noir but she can be serious when it calls for it. she loves chat noir and bug puns, and calls him her lord ("every lady needs a lord, don't you think?" "actually there are a lot of examples throughout history of strong female leaders who ruled successfully without a man") and she doesn't hesitate to protect him when need be.
