Mara is a clever, brave seventeen year old girl. She is very smart, which is crazy because she never went to school and she was always a slave. Mara has been a slave with blue eyes, which made her pretty and attractive. She was bought by another master and had to work as a spy, to have freedom. Mara was a type of person who was always saying that no one cares about her and she should take care of herself to survive. I think Mara was interesting because she was always caring about other people and she never knew it. As Mara goes on a boat, called the Silver Beetle. She meets a man named Sheftu. In Mara’s perspective, he is handsome, strong, and has a very attractive smile. The thing about him is that, he is very smart just like Mara. Sheftu is a kind of person that is likeable, but is very, very good to see if you’re lying or not.
Sheftu is very nice to Mara. He likes her so much, but since she’s a slave, he doesn’t want to admit it. Sheftu did make Mara change after a few times with each other. He is that kind of person who proves what love really is. Sheftu cares a lot about Mara and would not want to kill her if he had to. This basically tells Mara that people do care for her and she is not lonely. No matter how many times Sheftu cared for her, she still believed that she had to take care of herself. As a slave, it was tough for Mara so she had to believe that other people cared about her. After many times with SHeftu, she finally realized that Sheftu really cares for Mara.
Sheftu did change Mara a lot, but he wasn’t the only one. Inanni was a very helpful character to Mara. She is always by her side and she would never let her down. Inanni is also very caring and cares so much about Mara. She is technically Mara’s very first friend. Without Inanni, Mara would have a tougher time to believe that people care for her. Inanni is a person you can definitely trust and keep secrets with. The problem is that she could accidently burst out the secret without even knowing! In Mara’s mind, she doesn’t think that Inanni is the smartest person out there. But Inanni is smarter than she thinks. She found out that Mara lied about Thutmose liking her. Mara may have done this awful thing, but Innani will not get mad and simply help her.




Mara is the bravest girl i have ever known. She was captured by Chadzar the Libyan. Mara was brought to Hatshepsut, pharaoh of Egypt, to ask her questions. What master is she being a spy for. The thing is, Sashai was Hatshepsut’s honored trusted one. Sashai is Sheftu, but Mara never let it out. She kept on saying that she does not know and then they started punishing her. They decided to use a whip and smack Mara on the back and her shoulders, until her skin was ripping off. Even when Hatshepsut was telling Mara if she answered the question, but she still said she doesn’t know. After gettings whipped till she couldn’t feel pain, Sheftu and a group of people came by and killed Naherah and Sahure. Then Sheftu was saved by Sheftu, who owed Mara a big apology.
Inanni and Sheftu combined created a whole new thing for Mara. Mara being a slave definitely affected her. Mara’s parents were taken away from her and she began a life as a slave. As a slave, she couldn’t escape, be happy, or have friends. She was very depressed and knew that she would never have a good life. Mara never trusted anyone and thought no one would ever care for her. It was tough for Mara to live a new, great world being a real person. Without being bought, she would have never escaped and accomplish the horrible problems she had. Problems like being a double spy, being tortured, or losing anybody. Now Mara can live a great life with Sheftu, until they Rest In Peace. This time, she will not be a slave…. But a countess.
