Rosencrantz tells Hamlet that they passed a troop of players on their way to Elsinore. when the players come Hamlet welcomes them and insists upon hearing a speech straight away. Hamlet himself begins the speech and then one of the players continues it. The player goes on and then begins to weep. Polonius tells them its enough and Hamlet agrees. Hamlet pulls the main player aside and asks him if they could do the play“The Murder of Gonzago.” The player says that they could, and Hamlet asks if they coud insert some speeches that he will write and the player agrees.

Left alone on stage,curses himself for not taking revenge yet .then Hamlet announces his plan to use a play to test if King Claudius really did kill his father as King Hamlet's Ghost told him because the ghost might have been a devil.While it is played he will observe Claudius. If the king is guilty, he will show this guilt when faced with the scene of the crime.
