"Evet, "memnun olma" oyunu!" dedi Pollyanna.
"Bana babam öğretti.Küçüklüğümden beri oynarız. The Ladies' Aid'de ki insanlarada söyledim ve onlarda oynadı, bir kaçı."
"Anlamadım.Nasıl bir oyun bu?" diye sordu Nancy.
"Ben küçükken, bir bebek istemiştim.Babam bu isteğimi kasabadaki yardım sever insanlara yazdı. Güzel bir bebek bekliyordum ama, onlar bir çocuk için iki adet koltuk değneği gönderdiler.Çok üzülmüştüm.Ondan sonra oyunu oynamaya başladık."
"Şimdi anlamaya başladım." dedi Nancy.
"Ondan sonra hep bu oyunu oynadık.Ama bazen oyunu oynaması zor oluyor. Mesela, babam öldüğünde mutlu olacak hiçbir şey bulamadım. Ve şimdi, oyunu oynayacak kimsem yok."
"Seninle oynamaya çalışırım," dedi Nancy. "Ama, şimdi, eve gitmeliyiz."
