Actually, Graham Bell was trying for remove the silence of deaf peoples. He could not do it but he provided to communicate people who is kilometres away from each other with the phone which is upgrading every day. Graham Bell's mother was congenital deaf. His grandfather and father tried to help deaf people for a lot of years. Especially his father tried to develop the ways of speech even they can't hear. When his two brothers died from tuberculosis, his father immigrated to Canada for his last standing son. After his father's death, Graham Bell, who was working for introduce his father's workings went to USA. First, he went to Ontario, than he went to Boston. In Boston, he worked for a school which works for deaf peoples. Then he founded his school.
Graham Bell (whose fame spreaded in a short time process) called to Oxford University as a guest teacher. He read the book which has written by Hermann von Helmholz. The book was about hearing physiology. He concentrated to a idea which was about transferring music voices via a cable. Meanwhile, the other scientists were running workings about this topic. In fact, Antonio Meucci invented a device like this but he could not get its patent.
Bell, who came back from England, He became the Human Voice Physiology Professor of Boston University. He began to make devices which works for deaf people with his theoretical informations and some technic support. he began to work with a electric engineer called Thomas Watson. Lawyer Gardnier Greene Hubbart helped him about
financial support when he needs. Bell and Watson discovered the voice can be transferred via cables in 1875. But the voice was un-understandable. In 14 February 1876, Bell and Gray made an application to get the telephone patent. In 7 March 1876, they gave the patent to Bell. When Bell was making tests to run telephone, the acid from the battery which was he using poured out to his pants. He called Watson for help:
"Mr. Watson. Come here. I want to see you."
Watson heard Bell's voice from the phone and Bell made the first phone call unconsciously in 10 March 1876.
