: James Fannin wanted to retreat but Sam Houston wanted to retreat but James did not. They continued to argue until The Alamo got attacked. They headed toward The Alamo but when told not to bring the cannons they did not listen this was a bad idea because the horses soon got tired and they let them rest. however, the mexicans found them and attacked them. Since the army had some military experience, they went into a square with the cannons on each corner. They were captured an turned into prisoners and Santa Anna shot all of James Fannin's men in front of him, ( some played dead ), they tied him to a chair and said if he had any last words before they killed him. He responded saying to send all of his belongings to his family, to shoot him in the heart, and to give a christian burying. They only listened to one of his requests. They shot him in the face and put him and the rest of his men in a pile and buried them all.
