The Texas revolution-
After the Texans' victory at San Antonio, Santa Anna led his troops into Texas.
After the Battle of San Antonio the Texans thought that Santa Anna would wait until spring respond.In the Texas army most of the volunteer soldiers who had captured San Antonio returned home for the winter,So meanwhile volunteers poured into Texas from the United States and elsewhere.They came to Texas for promised land , to fight for liberty and for spirit of adventure. Texas was short of men and didnt do much recruiting, Many disputed Sam Houstons command and wanted to elect their own officers, Soldiers had no military training and were often impatient,and Army was to scattered and didnt communicate well. When Santa Anna decided to March in the winter and surprised most Texans who thought he would wait until spring.Marching in winter meant there would be little grass for his horses and mules to eat. General Santa Anna divided his troops into two forces He commanded some 6,000 soldiers whom he would lead toward San Antontio.The texans had realized that the old Alamo mission would be important in protecting one of the major roads between Texas and Mexico.They decided to reinforce the walls and add cannons.
