cleared by ATC to go to the place. has priority over VFR. Auto pilot. fly into any airport when can see from 1 mile out. rely on route you're taking. Squawk 2000 if no atc
Airport classes:
Golf=Don't need to be cleared into
Echo=Don't need to be cleared into
Delta=Don't need to be cleared into
Bravo= Main thing for big cities. Honolulu has one. How to get in bravo airspace= ATC will clear you.
Charlie= Don't need to be cleared into
GPS= most general aviation aircraft
Big airports have SID
SID= series of fixes. climb you out of C B or D airspaces.
cleared to (airport) say the route then (transition) climb via SID (altitude to maintain if further ATC to handle).
STAR= Standardized terminal arrival. The route of arrival.
IFR flightplan;
first thing is SID
vor is 3 letters and fix is 5 letters. airways have letters and numbers following it. SID/STAR has 5 letters and a number. Airways 1 letter 2 or 3 number after letter. Some SID's have 3 or 5 letters then a number (stars too)
