about 3weeks in of being proud new parents of a lovely baby girl, b and i started to notice something... random people started to nod and smile at us, give us knowing looks, co-workers that haven't talked to us in years started conversations like we've been friends for decades, friends that we have lost contact with started coming out of the woodworks... what is this weird new connection that people are all of a sudden finding within us? are we all of a sudden more approachable? are we just awesome all of a sudden? NOPE
it's the secret society of parents
it's the i've been there and done that
it's the i feel your joy....
it's also the i feel your pain that we are not supposed to say out loud
it's the i know your worries and your hopes for your newborn
it's the am i doing everything right?
it's the no one will ever truly understand unless you are part of this secret society
it's the we don't have to know YOU personally, but we KNOW
it's the secret joy they take in knowing that we as parents have all gone through it and they will all come out fine
there is no 'founder' of this secret society
and i don't think it was meant to be a secret... or even exist for that matter
i'm not sure if there is ONE thing that connects all of us as humans in this world,
but if there is.... it's got to be becoming a member in the secret society of parents.
