#1 The Renaissance is different than Medieval theater, because Renaissance means “rebirth” and it was the “rebirth” of Greek and Roman theater.
#2 This type of theater was the beginning of our modern theater. They created our modern ideas of what makes a play, and the play structure we still have today (introduction of characters, problem occurs, resolution).
#3 Flats” (panels with scenery painted on them, like we had for The Wizard of Oz here at McNair) were used to show scenery
#4 The theater was brought about by “patrons” or wealthy people who paid the actors and paid for sets. One family who is very famous for being patrons of the arts was the Medici (Meh-dee-chee) family

Taylor's Character: Juliana aka Rich Person

This story is about: The First Renaissance Theater is in major debt. The Theater puts on a new kind of play, (which inspired modern plays) but it is their last play before they sell the theater to pay the debt. This play has fancy and elaborate costumes, and their new chariot and pole system and flat sets. And Juliana hears about the new features and spreads the word. While Adam is preparing for the play, he worries that the theater will be gone by the time for the play. During the play, Juliana likes it so much she decides to fund the theater for 10 years!
