Lesson 3
1.The romans brought unity to their Empire by issuing decrees to certain people,and gave citizenship to people. The Romans also were the first to take a census.
2.Rome has many places in their Empire such as the Colosseum and the Pantheon. Rome also had basilicas, which were huge government buildings. In ancient rome they had a forum. This is where people could meet for business or recreations.
3.Pax Romana began in 27 B.C.
4.The Mediterranean Sea sometimes was called “ Roman Lake” because the Roman Empire expanded to include lands.
5.The Romans started taking a census because they wanted to keep track of citizens who didn’t pay any taxes or owed any military services.
6. The romans would be more successful in peace because they had a good government and had good rules.

Forum: a public place where people could meet for business or recreation.
Gladiator: slave or prisoner who fought to death for entertainment of the people
Aqueduct: system of bridges and canals used to carry water to a city.
