The Best Robot Vacuum For Carpet
Whether you've got carpet with a high or low pile there's a robotic vacuum for you. These smart appliances are able to navigate your home on their own clean up debris and clean under furniture.
They are equipped with advanced features, such as mapping that helps them navigate through your home and keep track of where furniture is. They can also increase suction power to clean up areas.
iRobot Roomba 694
The Roomba 694 by iRobot is a robot vacuum for entry-level use that is able to work on carpets with a low pile or bare floor. It has good suction however it has trouble with larger particles such as grains of rice or sand. It also does a decent job at cleaning pet hair however it isn't immune to tangling like top Roomba models like the I6 or j7.
The Roomba is simple to use. It has a trio of buttons on its top cover: 'Clean' initiates a cleaning cycle and 'Dock' places it back in its charging station, and 'Spot Clean' triggers a targeted clean. It is controlled by a smartphone app that lets you schedule or stop/start cycles, and also adjust settings. You can also pair it with smart home devices like Alexa or Google Assistant for voice-controlled operation.
This vacuum is a little slower than the others, however it's still able to reach the majority of crevices and corners. It comes with a large dust bin that is ideal for reducing the frequency with the frequency you have to empty it. It is compatible with digital maps and virtual barriers, which allow you to make it impossible to clean certain areas or to stop completely cleaning if you want to keep it from getting stuck on something.
It's not the best for its price, however it's better than the majority of other options. The Roborock E4 has a better cleaning capability than the Roomba 694, and it's able to clean carpets with low pile as well as bare. It also has a longer-lasting battery and a cleaner route. It also feels more durable and has fewer components that need regular maintenance, is less expensive to maintain over its life, and charges faster than the 694.
It is also worth considering other models within the iRobot range, such as the v7 and the 981. They're more expensive, but they provide significant improvements over the 694 in terms of performance on both low and bare floors, use the most efficient cleaning method, have a bigger dirt compartment, are faster to charge, maneuver themselves more easily, and are much easier to pair with smart home devices.
Shark RV1001AE IQ
This budget self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner does an excellent job on low-pile carpet and hard flooring. Its combinator brush gets to corners and edges and then automatically increases suction when it senses carpet. It also does a great job of cleaning embedded dirt on carpets in the middle of the pile. The IQ's small footprint for docks and its self-emptying feature are both nice features. If you want to change the floor level or set zones that aren't allowed, you'll have to manually reset the map.
The IQ's app has some advanced mapping and automation capabilities but it's missing no-go zones which are included on iRobot models. The smart-pathing system of the app permits for better maneuverability and the high-pile mode of its carpet cleaning mode is effective, although it can get caught in rug tassels.
In our tests, we observed that the IQ was able to handle pet hair effectively. It was able to get rid of the majority of hair on floors that were unfinished and a good amount of rug with a medium pile. It was less efficient with shag carpets, as it was unable to reach dirt and dust buried within the fibers. It did a decent job of navigating the legs of chairs, tight spaces, and the base of a wooden IKEA step stool. It was a little slower on floors with no flooring however it soon recovered speed and performed better than other robots we tested.
The IQ is a better choice over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most uses. It has a bigger dustbin, a longer battery life and is more adept at navigating obstacles. It comes with mopping tools that are able to remove sticky mess. On the other hand, the iRobot is built better, has fewer parts that require replacement or maintenance, incurs lower recurring costs and creates virtual no-go zones with its companion app. It can continue cleaning from the point it started, even if the battery is out before it's finished. The iRobot can be controlled by voice, which is a huge plus for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S by eufy isn't exactly the most feature-rich robot vacuum on the market but it does provide excellent cleaning power at the price of. cheap robot vacuum 's a budget-friendly option for buyers who don't require a complex mapping system or app to control the device. This robot can last for over an hour. It includes the remote control, cleaning tool and AC power adapter.
The 11S is slim, sleek and has a tempered-glass upper deck that looks like the brushed appearance of aluminum. It's a nice different from Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more utilitarian and industrial.
In our tests, the eufy11S was extremely effective at removing larger debris and fine dust on hard floors. It struggled to deep clean medium and high-pile carpets. The device is also prone to hit furniture and people that are in its path however, it's able detect those obstacles using sensors. It stops and emits a loud sound when it encounters an obstruction. Then, you can manually steer the device around it and return it to working.
Another excellent feature of the eufy11S is its BoostIQ mode, which allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust its suction power to match floor type and level of mess. The remote control makes it simple to guide the 11S to the desired place.
Single Room Mode is a great option for those with small furniture in the space you'd like to vacuum. The eufy will spend 30 minutes cleaning the space it's assigned.
Edge Cleaning is another option that limits the time spent on each surface to just 20 minutes. This will increase battery life. This feature allows the eufy to move in a spiraling pattern, cleaning corners and edges.
Miele Complete C1
The Miele Complete C1 is an excellent mid-range robot vacuum that can be a great performer on carpet. Its performance is also excellent on bare floors. It can remove small particles like rice easily and doesn't lose suction performance even as its dirt bin fills. Its air-sealed and allergy-friendly design capture allergens to keep your family safe. It uses an onboard HEPA filter and a self-emptying bin, so you won't need to purchase additional filters or a separate bag for your vacuum.
It's not as powerful as more expensive models, but it's still ideal for fighting dirt and deep cleaning. It comes with two cameras in front which provide a live feed to your smartphone. It also has one of the most advanced obstacle avoidance systems. It comes with a large bin, a long running time and an easy, bump-free clean-up.
The Complete C1 is unlike most robots because it can switch between two heads, a standard and a turbo for different kinds of flooring. The turbo head is ideal for low-pile and high-pile carpeting, while the standard powerhead is great on floors that are unfinished and light rug. It also comes with an automated height adjustment system, which allows it to easily adjust to different kinds of flooring without manual adjustments.
This model comes with the SBD 285-3 Classic Combination Floorhead, which can be used on both hard floors and carpets of medium pile. The powerhead is also easy to maneuver and can get into difficult spots. It comes with five levels of surface adjustment and a brushroll off switch to help prevent tangled hairs.
The Classic C1 also has a self-cleaning brush roll as well as an UtraClean mode that cycles across the same area three times to give the best cleaning possible, and a self-emptying dustbin which can be filled with the push of one button. The sound level of this model is greater than other models. However, its powerful motor of 1,200 watts and durable construction justify the extra cost.
If you're willing to pay a bit more it's worth it. Miele Complete C3 is an excellent all-round canister robot vacuum that is more effective on carpet than the Classic C1. It performs better on all floors, feels more solidly built and comes with an HEPA filter.
