10 Best Mobile Apps For Best Robot Vacuums
Best Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

A robot vacuum is a great tool to maintain the cleanliness of your home. It will pick up pet hair, dust, and other surface debris.

Some robots are able to sync with smart assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant for a hands-free experience. Find models that can be recharged and continue cleaning the area they left.

1. iRobot S8

This smart robot vacuum and mop combo is a great option for a wide range of homes. It has a great navigation system with GPS and laser sensors. It also has many features and controls accessible via the app. It also has a handy feature that lets you create cleaning zones in areas that require extra attention, and also to create Keep Out zones in areas that you don't wish it to go. As with all Roomba devices, it gets new software updates that make it better over time.

It's expensive, but it's is also among the most sophisticated robot vacuums ZDNet has ever tested. It's got a huge battery that can vacuum the entire house in less than two hours. It can also switch between mopping and vacuuming at the touch of the button. It automatically empties the trash bin that is above its charging station, in contrast to other self emptying robots which require you to empty it after every run.

It's got a range of other features that make it a great choice for homes of all sizes that include intelligent obstacle avoidance that uses the camera as well as processor-powered intelligents to identify obstacles. It's not often tripped or stuck during a cleaning process. In my tests, it was the best at avoiding objects like power cables. It's not as precise in detecting pet waste, or other dangers.

2. Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

Although Anker-owned Eufy has made a name for itself in low-cost robot vacuums it's not yet an all-in-one model that could also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that has a wide range of features that are advanced and is able to compete with more expensive models.

Laser navigation is the main selling point of this machine. The previous Eufy devices have built up an approximate map of your home using infrared sensors and bumping into objects but the X8's laser mapping technology is far more precise. It takes less time to build an extensive map of your home and can store multiple maps. This is great for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is still a good vacuum on floors with no dust, slinging debris under its side brushes and into the 400ml dust bin with ease. The X8's tyres, despite having a circular shape, are very good in grabbing corners and edges. It's not a great kitty litter picker, though our tests have shown it is able to remove around 90% of the fur from hard floors.

The mopping mode that is the basic one uses the same reservoir of water as the vacuuming mode. This is great for spills that aren't dangerous, but you are unable to regulate the amount of water it consumes. It is effective at picking up hair from pets. It has a higher rate of pick-up than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

The company is known for its quiet home appliances, Miele's RX2 robot vacuum has excellent cleaning power, stunning design and excellent navigation. It has some oddities in its operation that prevent it from being ranked as the best smart robot vacuum.

The RX2 is equipped with a dual-sensor mapping technique that makes use of LIDAR to map an area as well as a pair of 3D scanning cameras for detecting and avoiding obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). Once mapped the app allows you to designate virtual no-go zones and areas that you want to clean. will clean automatically. You can also change the cleaning modes, start cleaning manually, or view live feeds from the cameras onboard from the main screen.

The RX2 is equipped with excellent sensors that detect furniture and other obstructions instantly. Its sweeping and suction power are top-notch, picking up surface litter from medium-pile carpeting and embedded dust on floors that are unfinished. It's not the fastest robotics available. It's not the greatest climber, and it has problems with metal threshold transition strips.

Many people purchase a robot vacuum for the hands-off convenience of setting up a schedule using an app and not thinking about it for weeks at an time. It's important for a robot able to do the job so our ZDNet staff has tested and reviewed some of the most popular models in order to help you choose the best one for your home.

4. Shark ION

This budget robovac is a robot that looks like any other, but comes with a few more features and a better performance. Its smart mapping system generates 3D and 2D maps of your home, and uses them to avoid obstacles and navigate. It can even identify common obstacles such as furniture legs and power cords in real-time. This combination of sensors with a bump detector and an infrared sensor that keeps the vacuum away from stairs makes it one of our most flexible vacuums.

In our tests, it effortlessly moved over large shag rug and didn't get stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation abilities were impressive as well and its overall score on carpet and bare floors beat out the competition and it took in 98.5 percent of surface pet hair and litter from our laboratory test samples.

The controls are simpler than the competition; there's an uniform cleaning button on the top and you can access it via the app, or by voice command with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule daily or weekly cleanings, set up no-go zones and view its history of cleaning. In a smart dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and looks attractive in your home. The dust bin on the rear is accessible for emptying and removing the filter just as simple.

5. Eufy 11S

Eufy 11S is a great option for those looking for an automated vacuum cleaner that is simple and has no frills at a low cost. The model isn't equipped with smart features like Alexa integration and digital mapping, which are available in more expensive models. However, if you do not need these features, you can save money.

The robot is easy to set up and use. It does not require smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However, it does come with the remote control that allows you to choose between different modes and alter the suction level. You can also set up a manual schedule to set the robotvac to the schedule of cleaning.

During our tests, we found that the 11S was extremely effective at cleaning pet fur and dirt from carpets and floors with low pile. Its slim profile allowed it to get under furniture and other low objects that more bulkier robots were unable to reach. It was also able to easily get over thresholds for doors and transition from one type of floor to another.

Like other robots, the 11S is able to suck up some objects, such as cords drawstrings for hoodies and cat toys. The manufacturer suggests that you prevent this from happening by keeping these items off the ground and using a cord organizer if possible. It also recommends that you clean the dustbin, change the filters, and clean or change the brushes as necessary.

robot vacuum sale from iRobot

The Roomba is iRobot’s flagship robot vacuum. It's pricey, but it's top-performing and is arguably the most sophisticated robot vacuum you can purchase. Its self navigation and environmental mapping are something to behold. It also has more advanced automation features than most competitors, such as the ability to create virtual boundary markers through its mobile application. While its app isn't the most responsive and the 980 can spin a bit when crossing cables, it's still a very capable robot vacuum.

We really like the 980 because it uses its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors as well as visual simultaneity mapping and localisation (or vSLAM), to memorise your home's floor plan. It then uses the information to create a consistent and efficient cleaning path for every cycle. The result is cleaner floors, and a more efficient vacuum than most competing high-end robot vacuums.

The 980's other features include two multi-surface rubber brushes that pick up dirt from carpets and hard floors as well as an ejector brush that moves debris into the bin of the robotic vacuum. Its floor tracking sensor helps it navigate through furniture, along edges and up steps. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. It will also return to the base station to allow for charging between sessions. The bin capacity and the battery life of the 980 aren't as great as some other robot vacuums. However, it is an extremely reliable and sturdy machine that can keep floors clean for many hours.
