Thank you for your comprehensive and helpful initiatives.

Over the past few months, I have been in continuous discussions with Google regarding cloud cost reduction. It appears that the most significant expenses are associated with GCS buckets. By adjusting the lifecycle settings, we can achieve potential savings of approximately 60%, as outlined in the New Proposal presentation. Additionally, optimizing the BigQuery datasets by using compressed data sets can reduce storage costs by around 40%. We have already included tasks for these cost-saving measures in our Jira project backlog.

The lower costs are related to BigQuery streaming inserts, which would require a change in the way data is pushed into datasets. This is a modification that only Google can implement. Although this change will not significantly reduce total costs, I have decided to pursue it by submitting a request through Google's Roadmap Feature Request (Jira Cloud Product Demand). Despite the lengthy and challenging process, I am confident in its feasibility.

I also plan to initiate a new discussion with Google, particularly with Jane, regarding cloud budgeting discrepancies between Google and DB. It seems there are different cost values allocated to the budget split by cloud services.

Another ongoing investigation pertains to long-term retention logs: determining who should retain them and where they should be stored. If the logs remain in our LZ, the cloud service costs should be borne by the end application.

In parallel, over the past 15 weeks, I have been engaged in the Associate Cloud Engineer course within our internal DB training, which concluded last Friday. Concurrently, I have been focusing on understanding our company's existing cloud architecture and regularly participating in architectural calls. All points on your list are crucial from the CSO's perspective, particularly for our security team. Now that I have completed the ACE course, I will dedicate my full attention to addressing each item on your initiatives list.
