A Trip Back In Time: What People Discussed About Best Robot Vacuum For Carpet 20 Years Ago
The Best Robot Vacuum For Carpet

Whether you've got carpet that is high or low-pile there's a robotic vacuum for you. These smart appliances automatically navigate through your home, pick up debris and even clean under furniture.

They are equipped with advanced features, like mapping, which help them navigate through your home and keep track of where furniture is. They can also increase suction power to tackle dirtier surfaces.

iRobot Roomba 694"

The Roomba by iRobot is an entry level robot vacuum that works well on both floors that are unfinished and carpets with low pile. It has good suction and cleans up most debris, though it isn't able to handle bigger debris like sand or rice. It is capable of cleaning pet hair but isn't as resistant to tangling as the premium Roomba models like the I6 and j7.

The Roomba 694 is easy to use. It has a trio of buttons on its top cover: 'Clean' initiates an entire cleaning cycle and 'Dock' allows it to be put back in its charging station and 'Spot Clean' triggers the targeted cleaning. It can be controlled with an app for smartphones that allows you to schedule and stop/start cycles, and also adjust settings. You can also connect it with smart home devices like Alexa or Google Assistant for voice-controlled operation.

This vacuum is slower than others, but it's still able get into the most crevices and corners. It has a huge dust bin, which is great for reducing the frequency with the frequency you have to empty it. It is compatible with digital maps and virtual barriers which let you make it impossible to clean certain areas or to stop completely cleaning if you want to keep it from getting stuck on something.

Although it's not the top model in its price range, it's better than many other options. The Roborock E4 has a better cleaning performance than the Roomba 694, and it can clean both carpets with low pile as well as bare. It also has a more durable battery and a more efficient path. It is also more robust, has fewer components that require regular maintenance, is priced less over its lifetime, and charges faster than 694.

You may also want to consider other models from the iRobot range, such as the v7 or the 981. The 981 and v7 are more expensive but have significant improvements in cleaning performance, both on bare and low pile floors. They also have a bigger dirt compartment they charge faster, can move more easily, and are easier to pair with smart home devices.

Shark RV1001AE IQ

This budget self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner does a great job on carpets with a low pile and hard floors. Its combinator brush gets to corners and edges and it automatically boosts suction once it spots carpet. It is also effective at cleaning dirt embedded in mid-pile carpet. The IQ's tiny dock footprint and self-emptying feature are great features. However, if you wish to alter the floor level on the map or create no-go zones, you'll have manually reset it to do this, which can be a bit of an inconvenience.

The IQ's application has advanced mapping and automation features however, it's not able to access no-go zones, which are available on iRobot models. Its intelligent-pathing navigational system gives you greater maneuverability, and its high-pile carpet cleaning mode cleans well, although it is prone to get caught up in rug tassels. Additionally, vacuum robot mop lets you control the robot using voice commands.

During our tests, we discovered that the IQ was able to handle pet hair effectively. It was able to remove lots of debris on floors that were not bare and a decent amount of medium-pile rug. It was a little less effective on shag carpet, where it struggled to get at dirt and dust that was embedded in the fibers. It was able to navigate chair legs, small spaces, and even the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was a little slower on floors that were not paved however it soon recovered speed and performed better than the other robots we tried.

The IQ is a more suitable option for most users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a bigger dustbin and a longer battery life and is more adept in navigating around obstacles. It has mopping tools that are able to clean up sticky debris. The iRobot, however, is more sturdy, has fewer components that require maintenance or replacement and incurs fewer ongoing costs, and can even create virtual no-go zones using its companion app. It is able to continue cleaning from where it left off, even if its battery runs out before it has finished. The iRobot can also be controlled with voice, which can be an enormous benefit for many users.

Eufy 11S

The RoboVac 11S eufy robot vacuum isn't one of the most advanced models, but it does offer excellent cleaning power for affordable prices. It's a budget-friendly option for buyers who don't require a complex mapping system or an app to control the device. This robot can run for up to an hour and comes with an remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base, and additional filters.

The 11S is slim and sleek, with an upper deck of tempered glass that covers plastic finished to look like brushed aluminum. It's a nice change from the industrial and utilitarian designs of Roomba, Samsung and Neato.

In our tests, the eufy11S was excellent at picking up larger particles and fine dust on hard flooring. It was unable to thoroughly clean carpets with high and medium piles. It also has a tendency to bump into furniture and people in its path however, it is able to detect obstacles with sensors. It ceases and emits a loud sound when it comes across an obstacle. Then, you can manually guide the device around the obstacle and restart it.

The BoostIQ mode is another fantastic feature of the eufy11S. It allows you to configure the robot to automatically adjust the suction strength based on the floor type and the level of the mess. The remote control makes it simple to direct the 11S to your desired place.

Single Room Mode is a great option for those with small furniture in the area you'd like to vacuum. The eufy is capable of spending up to 30 minutes cleaning the space it is assigned.

You can also opt for Edge Cleaning which restricts the amount of time spent in each location to 20 minutes to ensure optimal battery life. This feature allows the eufy to move in a spiraling pattern, cleaning corners and edges.

Miele Complete C1

The Miele Complete C1 is an excellent mid-range canister robot vacuum that can be a great performer on carpet. Its performance is also great on floors with no floor. It can pick up rice and other fine particles effortlessly. The suction power doesn't decrease as the dirt bin fills. Its design is a breathable one and its air-sealed body traps allergens and keeps your family healthy. It has an onboard HEPA filter and self-emptying dustbin, so you won't need to purchase additional filters or a separate vacuum bag.

It's not quite as powerful as other models, but it's ideal for deep cleaning and fighting staining. It has two cameras on the front that deliver live feeds to your smartphone. It also comes with one of the most advanced obstacle avoidance systems. It also has a large dustbin, long runtime and a speedy and smooth clean-up.

The Complete C1 is unlike most robots in that it can switch between two heads, a standard and a turbo for different kinds of flooring. The turbo head is ideal for low-pile and high-pile carpeting and the standard powerhead is great on unfinished floors and light rug. It also has an automated height adjustment system, which lets it easily adapt to various types of flooring without any manual adjustments.

This model is bundled with the SBD 285-3 Classic Combination Floorhead, which can be used on hard floors and carpets of medium pile. The powerhead can be easily moved and reach difficult spots. It has five levels of surface adjustments and an off-brush switch to prevent hairs from getting tangled.

The Classic C1 has a self cleaning brush roll and the UtraClean Mode that can clean the same area up to three times and a self emptying dustbin that can be emptied with a single button press. The noise level of this model is more pronounced than other models. However its powerful motor with 1,200 watts of power and durable construction make it worth the extra cost.

If you're willing to spend some extra money then the Miele Complete C3 canister robot vacuum is a fantastic all-purpose robot vacuum. It is more effective on carpets than the Classic C1. It performs better on all types of floors and feels more sturdy and comes with a HEPA filter.
