The Best Shark Robot Vacuum
Shark's robovac ticks most of the boxes that you would expect from a machine in this price range. It has reliable cleaning performance as well as a mobile app that is easy to use and provides accurate home maps.
It also offers Matrix Clean navigation, a system that performs two passes back and forth, before moving from side to side for total coverage. Its base is bagless unlike many other robot vacuums.
1. Roborock S4
This is a top-notch robot vacuum designed for floors with no floor that collects debris and has a large dirt compartment. The app lets you control cleaning and docking. Its smart pathing is highly efficient. The app gives you an overview of the cleaning process, with maps showing where the S4 was cleaned, cleaning time and battery life.
Its maximum suction of 2,000Pa can be enough to lift an AA battery off the floor, and is comparable to those of full-sized vacuums. With 19CFM the S4's side as well as combo brush is situated closer to the front of the unit than in other Roborock models, which may be a strategy to lessen the possibility of clogging.
The S4's advanced mapping system can map a home up to four levels deep. It will also keep track of areas it has already cleaned. This makes it easy to design a cleaning schedule, without having to manually move robots from room to room. You can designate certain areas as "no-go zones" to prevent the S4 from cleaning those areas.
It was able to vacuum all floors of our home with ease and was extremely efficient on bare floors. However, it had a difficult time picking up dog hair that is a common issue for a lot of robotic vacuums. The only 8.5 percent of the dog hair it picked up was actually kept in the dustbin and the majority was clumped around the suction intake and brushes.
The S4 is smaller and lighter than other Shark vacuums. This makes it easier to maneuver. It can make tighter turning and avoid obstacles which slow down other robots. The low-profile design makes it easier to fit under furniture. It is more able to climb to navigate flooring transitions and different flooring levels. It can easily reach the bottom of stairs and is a great option for larger homes that have multiple floors. The app allows you to set a schedule and also includes an automatic control for vacuuming. It can also return to its charging station to recharge automatically between cleaning cycles. It comes with the largest battery, 5200 mAh that can run for 150 minutes in the standard mode, or 2691 square feet between charges.
2. Shark EZ Robot Self-Empty
This Shark robot vacuum is an excellent option for pet owners looking for a machine that is easy to use and smart. Its self-emptying base that is bagless is a huge convenience particularly when compared to other models that utilize disposable dirt bags in their bases. You can empty the bin over the trashcan by removing it. It can be messy, but you save money on bags to replace.
The bin itself is also quite large, which means the EZ Robot is capable of handling a good amount of debris. It also performs well on floors that are clean, although it struggles with dirt embedded in carpets with low pile. best robot vacuum for hardwood floors has good navigational capabilities and a tiny footprint.
The EZ Robot may not be as efficient as Roborock S4, but it is still a great choice for those looking for a machine that can perform well and is affordable. It's well-built, offers many automation features, and has impressive cleaning performance on both bare floors and high-pile carpet. However the maintenance requirements for this model are a challenge and it has high costs that are recurring.
The Shark robot has another excellent feature: it can automatically return to where it left off once it returns to the docking station. This is a very handy feature particularly if you own an extensive home.
The IQ XL also comes with a variety of other useful features. These include the ability to schedule entire-home cleanings remotely and review cleaning reports via the SharkClean App. You can also start, stop and resume cleaning sessions by speaking via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The row-by-row cleaning feature is a huge benefit and it also is able to clean your entire house in neat rows, not a back-and-forth snake pattern like many other robots.
The IQ XL has a major drawback in that it cannot overcome obstacles like power cords. It could think they are solid barriers and therefore not try to climb over them. It's also not as fast or efficient at maneuvering a room when it's filled with pet hair, which could make its brushes tangled and slow it down.
3. Shark AI Robot
This is a reliable robotic vacuum from Shark, offering a good combination of features. It comes with a base that can hold up to 30 days' worth of debris, and it combines the cleaning power both of the robot vacuum cleaner and a mop. It also comes with a precise grid-based cleaning mode and advanced smart home integration that supports Alexa and Google Assistant. You can set it up to clean on a set schedule or on demand or set virtual boundaries to prevent it from entering rooms that may contain fragile items or rugs.
The Shark AI Robot carries out an impressive job of cleaning floors, removing debris like rice with ease. However, it has a hard cleaning larger bulky debris off carpets in low pile and does a poor job of maneuvering around large furniture. It has a do not disturb feature which allows you to use it at home without interrupting your daily routine.
Another benefit is that it utilizes LiDAR technology to map out your home which allows it to detect and navigate around obstacles with greater precision than those that rely on gyroscopes or infrared sensors. This allows it to avoid crashing into fragile objects and to optimize dirt collection on different surfaces. The LiDAR system also works faster than gyroscopes, which can cause the robot to slow down and lose control when it comes into contact with uneven surfaces.
It's got a lot of other options, including the ability to control mopping with a remote, an automatic system and a variety of vacuum modes. It can charge and recharge itself while working. Its biggest flaw is that it only maps out one floor. If you have two floors it's going to need to be manually carried to those areas and then programed to repeat.
It can also be quite loud especially when in mopping mode. It also has many parts that must be cleaned or changed regularly, adding to the cost of maintenance. Fortunately, the self-empty feature reduces some of these expenses and is compatible with bagless filters, which reduces its annual expenses.
4. Shark ION Robot RV700 series
The Shark ION Robot RV700 Series ticks all the boxes you would expect from a mid-range robotic vacuum, offering solid cleaning performance and a superb mobile app that creates accurate home maps. The bagless base eliminates the need to purchase replacement dust bags every year. In our cleaning test, it was able to remove 97.8 percent of dust from carpeting with low pile and hardwood floors, though it wasn't as effective on high-pile carpeting. Its maneuverability makes it easy to move between furniture and onto flooring with high pile. It can also easily pass over things like rug fringes and electrical cords without getting stuck.
Its high-tensile bristles in a helix pattern are strong enough to manage and untangle long hair, string, and other fibers. The brushroll has an adjustable side that can be used when it encounters an obstacle. Its thin design allows it to glide under furniture and proximity sensors enable it to adjust and evaluate obstacles. The app lets you schedule cleanings and trigger the machine with a single button press. It has a moderate noise level, but it can be reduced by using the do-not disturb mode or custom scheduling.
The RV700 is a bit more manual than the Roborock S4 and iRobot Roomba j7+, which is to be expected from a self-emptying model. However, it still feels more robust and easy to maintain, is faster in charging and gets rid of more debris on both bare floors and high-pile carpeting. Its navigation system can create virtual boundaries, recognize obstacles and avoid them, and also create virtual boundaries. This makes it the best option for robotic cleaners that you can "set and forget".
The RV700 Series does not have a cliff-sensor that would keep it from falling down stairs. This could be a problem those who live in taller houses. It's also not able to mop and vacuum at the same time and requires you to switch between two modes in its app. However, the RV700 Series is a less expensive alternative to the more advanced Roborock and iRobot models that offer self-emptying and cliff detection capabilities. Its primary selling point is the fact that it can be recharged and emptied while docked at its base. This makes it a perfect alternative for those who don't need to empty the dustbin each time they use it.
