WalletHub's Safest States in America 2020
WalletHub has published a report evaluating which states are the most safe. The report graded 50 states on 53 key metrics. They looked at property crime, violent crime, and law enforcement budgets to determine which states are safest for residents. The report also ranked the safety of residents in cities.

The list was compiled by researchers using data from the FBI and Census Bureau. These results were then calculated by dividing the data by size, which included both cities and towns. The report also examined the number of police officers within each state.

While most states are safe to live in, a few of them have more crimes than others. Despite its large population Virginia is the fourth most secure state for violent crimes in America. Although the state is further north than other states for violent crime, it is still safe to reside there. Massachusetts cracked the top 10 for the first time since several years. It just edged Kentucky for tenth.

Maine, for instance, is one of America's most secure states for residents. cáp cầu thang has the lowest levels of violent crime per person in the country. The state has the fourth lowest property crime score, with just 1,466 violent criminal acts per 100,000 residents. Maine is also one the most affordable states to live in.

Rhode Island is another state considered relatively safe. With a violent crime rate of 221.1 cases per 100,000 residents, the state is 28% safer than the national average. Rhode Island is home to just over 1,000,000 people, but it ranks tops in the nation. The state has an area of about 1,045 square miles.

As a whole, Americans still feel a lot of fear about gun violence, but it seems to be a different story in many regions. Nearly half of Americans are more concerned than ever. The Southern U.S. is the most dangerous, followed by Florida (and Mississippi) as the next worst.

Vermont is a state that ranks high because of its diverse population. More than half of its population is white while nearly 20 percent is Hispanic or black. It is also home of the largest dominican colony in the country. Despite these statistics however, it remains a safe place where to live.
