Directions: Complete the first three (3) items on the page, on three separate sheets of paper, and then select 2 other activities. Circle your choices. Attach this page to the summary and author report. Due date: Monday, March 28th, 2016
· Write a summary of the book. Must be at least two full pages. (20 Points)
· Write a paragraph (at least 7 sentences) about the author or illustrator. ( 20 Points)
· Write one paragraph about your favorite part or favorite character and why. (10 Points)
Each activity below is worth 25 points, for a total of 100 points.
1. Make a poster to advertise the book.
2. Design a book jacket for the book or story. Must be in color.
3. Suddenly the book becomes a best seller. Write a letter to a movie producer trying to get that person interested in making your book into a movie. Explain why the story, characters, conflicts, etc., would make a good film. Suggest a filming location and the actors to play the various roles. YOU MAY ONLY USE BOOKS WHICH HAVE NOT ALREADY BEEN MADE INTO MOVIES.
4. Construct a diorama (three-dimensional scene which includes models of people, buildings, plants, and animals) of one of the main events of the book. Include a written description of the scene.
5. Write a letter (10-sentence minimum) to the main character of your book asking questions, protesting a situation, and/or making a complaint and/or a suggestion. This must be done in the correct letter format.
6. Make a Flow Map of all the events in the book.
7. Make a map of where the events in the book take place.
8. Create a movie trailer advertising the story, characters and setting. Present this in video form and be prepared to show to the class.
9. Write a FULL (physical, emotional, relational) description of three of the characters in the book. Draw a portrait to accompany each description.
10. Pretend that you can spend a day with one of the characters. Which character would you choose? Why? What would you do? Write a one page response.
This is a read-aloud in class. If the student is absent for any portion of the book, they are responsible to make it up in their own. Please monitor your student’s progress so that they do not save all the activities for the last minute!
