In the year 2018, the two countries exchanged $2.1 billion. The trade between the US, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan totaled $315 million in the same time frame. Kazakhstan is America's central Asian economic partner.

Eurasian geopolitics has historically been focused around Central Asia. Kazakhstan is the leading country in Eurasia's economy, security and counterterrorism. America should have strong connections to the region and Kazakhstan specifically.

Nazarbayev's White House trip was a great start to greater US strategic involvement in this region.

He also handled imports, exports of natural resources, minerals vehicles, food, and other businesses. Tevfik Arif was the first person to open all-inclusive hotels in Turkey. Bayrock Group was founded in New York City eight years later.

Kazakhstan could be a key actor in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Kazakhstan has been a major strategically important country for the United States. The peace process is now in place for Kazakhstan, and the Kazakh president Kassym Jomart Tokayev made important modifications to the power structures of the ruling class, which raised questions and concerns. Tokayev is now the chairperson of the National Security Council. He replaces the president Nursultan Azzarbayev, whose influence on the economy has caused anger among protesters.

Since then, three of the sons-in-law of the former president were dismissed from state companies and his nephew was dismissed as well, and the former head of intelligence Karim Masimov was arrested for being a treasoner. Many other Nazarbayev-affiliated top officials and business elite have lost their jobs, left overseas for extended vacations, or were forced to make large "donations" to the state.

Tokayev has established business relations with the West and neighboring countries. To retain his popularity, Tokayev is yet to upset Putin. Kazykhanov could disrupt that balance. Washington should be watching closely the developments happening in Kazakhstan because they could signal a variety of potential power transition scenarios.
