It was another World War caused by Hitler invading Poland. The U.S. isolated itself refusing to send more men out due to the bloodshed of WW1. The Americans only got involved in the War when the Japanese gov't attacked Pearl Harbor. The Korean War? The U.S. once again did not want to be involved and deal with North Korea. The U.S. never formally declared war on N.K. and Instead referred to the addition of grounded troops as a police action. N.K. had a prisoner-of-war exchange with the U.S. as well. Vietnam War? The U.S. Gov't own soldiers were coming to mistrust of the government's reasons for keeping them there. So, the American Soldiers mistrusting their gov't says a lot that they did not want to be fighting the war they were forced to fight. The Persian Gulf War? It was caused by Iraq's invasion of Kuwait for oil.
