This substantial contribution was announced at a recent banquet hosted by the Boys & Girls Club at the Cool Springs General Baptist Church. The event, which celebrated the upcoming opening of the Teen Center, was graced by Houchins as the guest speaker.

In his address, Houchins, who leads America's largest employee-owned corporation, highlighted the importance of nurturing youth through supportive community environments. He praised the spirit and hard work prevalent in Butler County in backing initiatives like the Boys & Girls Club.

The $15,000 donation from Houchins will play a pivotal role in the establishment of the Teen Center, which is set to open its doors on January 8, 2024, at the Tyler Street facility. The center aims to target youths aged 12-18, offering them access to workforce readiness technology, and preparing them for potential employment opportunities within the community.

The banquet also recognized the achievements of the Butler County High School boys' basketball team, with special mentions by Bruce White. Esteemed guests like Second District Magistrate Kevin Phelps and Boys and Girls Club board member Barry White, both alumni of the celebrated 1974 BCHS basketball team, were in attendance.
