Makhluk ini mirip kucing dengan bulu berbintik-bintik / bebercak-bercak. Telinganya berukuran besar, dan ekor mirip ekor singa. Aslinya, Kneazle ini dikembangbiakkan di Inggris, meskipun sekarang diekspor ke seluruh dunia. Mereka ini mandiri, cerdas, dan kadang agresif. Walaupun agresif kalau mereka suka pada seorang penyihir, hewan ini bisa jadi binatang peliharaan yang hebat. Dia punya kemampuan aneh yaitu mendeteksi sifat buruk dan dapat diandalkan untuk menunjukkan jalan pulang bagi pemiliknya yang tersesat. Kneazle bisa melahirkan sampai 8 anak dan bisa kawin dengan kucing. Crookshanks, kucing pesek dengan bulu cokelat, memiliki ekor seperti botol, dan agak gemuk milik Hermione ini adalah keturunan dari Kneazle. Pemilik Kneazle harus punya surat izin seperti Crup dan Fwooper karena penampilan Kneazle itu cukup luar biasa untuk menarik perhatian muggle.
