The Story of My Life

It all began on November 25, 2003, the day that I was born. It was all bright lights, people in blue, and my mom. Just my mom. My dad, Sergeant Timothy M. Conneway, was Killed in Action (KIA) on June 28, 2003. He was 22 years old. I was never able to see my dad. I had always wondered why I didn’t have a father like everyone else and if I did, where was he? Why was it just me and my mom? I had so many question at the moment. They would all be answered someday. That day came when we went over to my grandparents house. My mom was talking with my grandparents when I randomly called out, “Where is my daddy.” My mom was stunned at the moment. I thought that I was in trouble so when my mom told me to sit next to her ,but I didn't want to. So I sat on the ground next to my toys. Then she had told me what happened. She also told me that when I was in her stomach that I was dying. I later found out that I had a hole in my heart and in my brain ,but I had lived. She said that “I am alive today because I believe that your daddy made a deal with God saying that if you take me then please let my son live.” Then I really started to cry.

Then I knew that he risked his life for me and I thought to myself that that is even greater than having a dad my dad really cared for me because he risked his life for me. To me that was everything.A couple years later my mom had remarried to Raul Gutierrez who was also in the Army. When that got married I was so happy. I was so glad! I finally had a dad that I could spend time with. Know I was only a little kid at the time so I didn't know that you can pray and talk to family members. Also yes if you wondering I am Catholic. Anyways about a year later my mom and dad had another child and her name is Maria Gutierrez. I was really glad that she was born ,but I really wanted a little brother. That also came true on Feb 27, 2015 when Gabrel Gutierrez was born. There has been a lot of ups and downs in my life. I have had a lot on my plate these past few months,but we Conneways and Gutierrez's stay strong. It's just the story of my life. My family is doing fine. I will always be as curios as I am about my dad. I still think about him to this day. I asked my mom to tell me stories about him. Sometimes I just google him and learn about him. I discover new things about him everyday ,but sometimes I just live in the moment and just go with the flow. That's what I've learned over the past Oh I don't know my whole life! Well I live in North Carolina with my two siblings, my parents,in a extremely small house. Not on the prairie, but on 74 Shadow Lane, Whispering Pines. My name is Timothy M. Conneway Jr and this is the story of my life.
