Located along the coast of the Pine Tree State, Maine’s unique landscape inspires top architects to design residential homes that are as innovative as they are beautiful. One of the most acclaimed Maine architects is the Whitten Architects firm, which has been in business since 1978. Its founder, George Burnham, grew up in the area and was drawn to New England architecture. His early career saw him join the Boston office of Francis H. Fassett and rise to junior partner in just seven years. During World War I, Burnham served as an officer candidate but was unable to complete his training due to a medical discharge.
