Luckin Coffee takes ‘first step’ overseas with Singapore debut
Luckin Coffee has opened the first two of ten stores planned for Singapore by the end of April 2022, its first outside of China

Luckin Coffee has opened two outlets in Singapore as part of a ‘trial operation’ which will see the coffee chain open 10 stores across the country by the end of April 2022.
The pick-up stores, its first outside China, are located at the high footfall Marina Square shopping centre and outside the Ngee Ann City mall.
As with Luckin Coffee’s Chinese sites, customers can places orders for pick and delivery via the coffee chain's app.
The convenience-focused coffee chain is expected to open ‘relax’ coffee shops across Singapore next month, which feature larger in-store seating areas alongside on-the-go services.
Luckin Coffee CEO Guo Jinyi said the brand would ‘inject new vitality’ into the Singaporean coffee shop market.
“Our corporate vision is to ‘create a world-class coffee brand and make Luckin Coffee a part of people’s daily lives.’ The opening of our Singapore store is the first step for Luckin Coffee to expand overseas. Although we are still in the early stages of exploration and testing, we hope to cultivate the Singapore market in the long term, bring new consumer experiences, inject new vitality and development momentum into the local coffee market,” he said.
Luckin Coffee operates more than 8,400 outlets across China, making it the largest coffee chain in the country ahead of Starbucks’ nearly 6,100 stores.
Having opened 2,190 net new stores across China in 2022, Luckin Coffee reportedly opened 478 new stores in January 2023 alone as part of growth plans to expand its franchise operations to 41 third and fourth-tier cities across the country this year.
