Cell Phone Battery Tips

Store and charge your batteries in a cool, dry, temperate environment. While li-ion batteries prefer to be cool, they definitely don't want to be cold (or hot). Extreme temperatures will damage or destroy the chemical structure of these batteries so don't leave them to freeze or bake in the elements; keep them cool and dry and always between 40 and 85-degrees Fahrenheit.

lithium stocks canada A few years ago mobile phones used Nickel-Cadmium batteries that had a "memory" so to speak. What this means is that if you let you battery get to 50% of charge capacity and then charged it it would start to think that at 50% capacity it was totally empty. Many of us remember how quickly cell phone batteries seemed to die with the (Ni-Cad) battery. If you have a Nickel-Cadmium or a Nickel-Metal Hydride battery, make sure you let it run all the way down before charging to give it the correct memory parameters. Lithium Ion batteries have no "memory effect" whatsoever. This means you can charge your phone when the battery is at 80% or when it is completely dead without harming the battery.

lithium bettery stock With all its built in power, high def screen, touch screen technology and apps by the bucket load you'd think that the iPad was a battery hog... Well it might be but it really doesn't matter because the Apple wizards have developed their own in-house lithium sci-fi technology that means the iPad can last a full 10 hours!

A long time ago, cell phones were powered by Nickel Cadmium batteries which were large and heavy. They also were susceptible to something called the "memory effect," a condition which reduced performance of the cell phone battery life. Later, higher performance Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries were introduced, which then led to the Lithium-ion battery, the most used cell phone battery today. Lithium batteries are up to 35% lighter, offer superior performance compared to the older generation batteries, and don't suffer from the memory effect.

lithium facts Some people like to repair a dead battery instead of buying a replacement. There are instructional ebooks sold online telling you how to resurrect a non-working cordless drill battery. It's wonderful that someone can be so interested as to try making a DIY repair. And it can be a very good science project for budding student scientist. Just type "repair battery" on eBay and you will find plenty of people selling the instructions.

Briefly relating back to overall size... many lithium 18650's will differ ever so slightly in length (measured in millimeters). cobalt ontario is mainly due to an added protection circuit. The circuit helps to prevent the battery from over-discharging, since Li-ion cells can easily become damaged if their power is drained below a particular voltage. The protection circuit also prevents the cell from being over-CHARGED as well. These cells are very sensitive. They must be handled carefully, gently, and as described above, must never run-down too far, or be charged over and above their threshold. They can actually explode if severely mistreated!
