After returning to earth the carbon fiber was transformed into this unique art. The physical element is engraved with an NFT serial number that is linked to the digital artwork with a QR code that is located on the back.

NFTs, for those who are not familiar are unique identifiers which are recorded on an open ledger on the blockchain and connected to a digital asset like a photograph, video, song or any other type of record. This allows owners to ensure the authenticity, scarcity and tracking of their tokens across the internet.

The physical element of the Space Key

Oefner utilized a balloon with a camera to take each of the individual images, that were then merged to create the final image. The result is a photo that is out of this world. It captures both the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic look of a car rising from the Earth. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned off in the near future, but there isn't a specific date or time yet.

The auction
