No new car dealers keep parts beyond 10 years or so and even auto parts stores limit their inventory to cars under 20 years. A 30 year old vehicle is almost impossible to find parts for. Plus, if you can find the part, depending on where you get it, the cost could be anywhere from 20 to 100% over the original part cost. To say that late model car owners are taken advantage of would be a gross understatement.

That pile was not created by itself. It started out flat, then as more and more metal strips were piled on top of each other, it grew in breath and scope. Until finally, it stood as a testament to man's wasteful habits.

Of course, there are certain parts that you probably shouldn't get at a junk yard. Something like a tire or car brakes are best off bought new. After all, who knows what kind of wear and tear they have. It's not very safe to be driving a car on junk tires and brakes, never knowing when they're going to go.

My grandmother spoke a little English but she mainly stayed home, kept house and raised the children. I remember watching her boil their clothes in a big pot on the stove stirring it with a large wooden paddle. Then she would rinse them in the sink, ring them out, and rub them on a board.

Garage and yard sales were not really mainstream when we held ours, but it turned out to be a good idea and one which is common place today. The only problem is that some people think they can do better selling stuff online. In some cases they may be right, but those are the exceptions to the rule. In this economy selling your clutter online makes less sense than selling it in your yard, garage, house or apartment. Not only are there those fees that the online services demand, but there is the nightmare of the dissatisfied customer.
